If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which one?

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Star Trek Meets My Favorite Martian
Star Trek Meets My Living Doll
A sophisticated robot that looks exactly like Julie Newmar instructs Data on a wide variety of pleasuring.

Wouldn't Data realize that she looks and sounds like Eleen, mother of the High Teer Leonard James Akaar?

Wel, he never noticed that Lwaxana Troi looks and sounds a lot like Christine Chapel and Pike's Number One . . . . :)

Or that she sounds exactly like the computer.

He never noticed that Karnas ("Too Short a Season") bore an astonishing resemblance to Korax, a Klingon who was once involved in a small disturbance at Space Station K-7, either.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Okay, I clearly overestimated Data's abilities. He is rather unobservant.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Heck, Data never noticed that Doctor Pulaski bore a distinct resemblance to both Miranda Jones and Dr. Ann Mulhall . . . .

You ever been to Tiburon, Mel?

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

And a mad Q could bing things from other universes and tweak local physics to where ships could interact on more evan terms--bear baiting starship battles.

Can't happen, I'm afraid. Q can only mess with things in the prime universe. The mirror universe, for example, has their own version of Q. And that IDW comic where Q messes with the JJ Abrams crew is because that's a branching timeline.

You may be thinking of my cousin, Sev.

Or that Kor bore a striking resemblance to OG BSG's Baltar,
Or Kang bore a resemblance to Elric the Technomage,
Or Number One looks like Lwaxana Troi who looks like, Nurse Chappel, who looks like Lady Morella

Can I stop :)

Seriously, I think it would have been interesting if there were an Enterprise\ Xenomorph (Alien) cross over. Most of the other Star Trek eras, the ships are powerful enough to lay waste to any planet infested with xenomorphs or to contain with force fields and such, but would be a real problem for the NX-01 crew. Imagine a member of a landing party gets impregnated by one of those creepy crawlies with a queen, bursts a chest, then proceeds to wreak havoc aboard the Enterprise NX-01. It's not a forgone conclusion it will end well.

Or, what if the Borg assimilated a Xenomorph?

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Firefly. It would be funny to have Captain Mal bounce off the Federation. He'd dislike them just as much as the Alliance -- in the Star Trek universe, he'd be the Maquis -- but we wouldn't know who to root for.

Actually, I take that back: Animorphs. I realize it's a young-adult series over a decade old, but Andalites are magnificent, and the mind-controlling Yeerks would be PERFECT comparisons with Trills and parasites. Parasites ARE Yeerks!

I don't know what gave you that idea. Indeed, the IDW comic makes it pretty clear that Q transcends timelines. Picard warns Q not to meddle in the affairs of other timelines, and Q says he'll agree to that when Picard agrees to breathe only one air molecule and not the alternatives surrounding it.

And canon itself would seem to bear out that Q is able to explore other timelines quite freely, as in the alternative timelines he shows Picard in "Tapestry" and "All Good Things...". Several novels have also shown that the Q are able to visit and interact with other timelines at will, notably Q Squared and Voyager: The Eternal Tide.

He can only mess with alternate timelines, not alternate universes (where they were always an alternate universe and never branched off from the prime universe). So that's why prime universe Q can't do anything at all with the Mirror Universe; the Mirror Universe never branched off from the prime universe. It was completely alternate right from the beginning. That's why the Mirror Universe have their own Q.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

"Alternate timeline" and "alternate universe" are terms that most science fiction uses interchangeably for the exact same thing.

And who says the Mirror Universe has a different Q? You're asserting that but you're not explaining where you get it from. We never saw a Mirror version of Q in any canonical episode. I can't recall any Mirror Universe story in prose or comics that posits a separate Mirror Q. I find no reference to a Mirror Q on the Star Trek Online Wiki. The only result for "Q (mirror)" on Memory Beta is a reference to something from a Decipher role-playing game module, and that's too vague to indicate whether that Q was an alternate double of the DeLancie Q (remember, all Q individuals call themselves Q). So I have no idea what your source is for your claim about a separate Mirror Q Continuum.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

I can also see Cthulhu interacting with other "emboltments" at will. Maybe the Doud are limited to Trek only, or the Metrons to give Austin a plug.

Sadly though, I feel the time for a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover has passed.

The ideal time would have been the mid to late 1980s.

Post "Voyage Home," post "Return of the Jedi." Speaking of alternative universes, I somehow see Vonda N. McIntyre being a screenwriter.

We see Luke Skywalker slashing his way through some renegade Klingons. Kirk is knocked down and can only watch.

Luke then turns to Kirk, but for one shot, is played by Merritt Butrick.

Kirk's expression warms for a moment, and then we see Hamill again.

Kirk would have been a surrogate father, Luke a surrogate son. That would have been worthy of a crossover to me--forget the space battles. Each franchise has messed with its own history at this point, so no biggie.

Now there is one thing I would like to see from a modern cross-over: Quinto's Spock sits down with Fisher as Leia (dressed more as Mon Mothma these days perhaps).

Spock has had a fight with Uhura and needs some advice, about his rage from his human side: "You don't know what that's like.."

And Carrie, half winking at the audience, says "Oh yes I do, kiddo."

I can just see those two together getting along greatly.

I don't want to see Carrie playing Leia anymore, just Leia playing Carrie at this point ;)

Roddenberry tried to pitch a spinoff with Harry Mudd too.

Star Trek vs. The Andy Griffith Show

EXT. MAYBERRY - DAY
As KIRK, SPOCK, McCOY, and ENS. GRANT MATERIALIZE in the middle of the street, a townsperson sees them.

GOMER PYLE: Shazam!

GRANT: (drawing phaser) A hillbilly!

KIRK: Grant, no!

Grant phasers Pyle out of existence.

ETA:
Oh, a science fiction show. Then substitute Green Acres and Mr. Haney for Gomer.

Are you saying this never happened?

StarTrekRFD.png
Is that Carl Kolchak's father in the middle of that shot?

Personally, I've always assumed that Q transcends petty distinctions like alternate timelines and parallel universes. It's probably like switching TV channels to him . . . .

What's the point of being a near-omnipotent, god-like being if you're stuck in one universe like mere primitives? :)

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Got infinite realities and there's nothing on.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Quantum leap.

Sam Becket jumps into Captain Archer and starts kicking ass.

"ohhh boy"

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Voyager finds the wreckage of an early Earth space vehicle on a planet in the Delta Quadrant. The lone survivor is Zachary Smith, who keeps moaning about pain and calling Kim a bubble headed booby.

Paris discovers the remains of a B-9, Class M-3 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot in the wreckage, and restores it to operating condition. The robot serves as a mess hall jukebox, entertaining diners with its only surviving music disk, Slim Whitman's Greatest Hits.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Larry Niven's Known Space. Would LOVE it. Done in a very small way in TAS ("The Slaver Weapon") with Slaver boxes and the Kzinti. Would really like to see Niven's stasis field tech introduced (would absolutely change the balance of power in favor of whoever got it) the ARM meet Section 31, and Pierson's Puppeteers please!!

Terminators, anyone?

I'd like to see the Federation discover the world(s) of the Chtorr. Doesn't look like Gerrold will ever finish that, though. Chtorrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Not so much a crossover as bringing in one species--bring in the tiny, superdense, nucleonic reaction-dependent, neutron star-inhabiting Cheela from Robert Forward's Dragon's Egg and Starquake.
