The reason I choose a TNG assignment (hopefully on a Galaxy or Nebula class Starship) is because it would be more comfortable. Yes, Voyager and Deep Space 9 are in the 24th century, but Deep Space 9 is on a moderately comfortable Cardassian mining station and Voyager is on a smaller starship (compared to the E-D in provisions) in the Delta Quadrant (thousands of light years from home).

Lieutenant junior grade in the astrophysics department on Enterprise seems like a pretty low pressure job, I could do that.

Although actually, I would prefer DS9, at least you can get real booze there, and I would prefer to be stationary, watching the ships roll in and watch them roll away again.

I'll say Next Generation. Hardly anyone dies and the Enterprise-D looks like a really luxurious place to live and work. Too bad it can only last for 7 years before the ship is destroyed. The Enterprise-E did not look nearly as inviting a place.

It's ironic that crews with less cushy ships and assignments lack counselors. TNG probably has the least need of one.

I would live on DS9 as a civilian, drink in Quark's bar, and just take in the ambience of the station. Basically, I would be Morn.

For me it's The Next Generation and Enterprise D, no doubt. I love the crew, the atmosphere, the look of the ship and interiors, and the stories.
My second choice would be TOS or Voyager, it's hard to decide.

I'd never choose to live on DS9 or Enterprise, because of the dangers (war with Xindi and Dominion). Also, I don't like the level of techonology in Enteprirse, while on DS9, I don't like the atmosphere and the crew at all.

(And, since I've posted here first time after 8 years, I have to say to you all, hello, it's nice to be back here. :) )

I would live as a Breen Spetskar Commando wearing a stealth suit, and carrying a phase 3 disruptor pistol and neural truncheon. Species? Fenrisal, the wolf type. I think it would be fun to wear armadillo armor and wear a helmet with vocoder to use machinespeak. The whole Breen culture is an enigma. Although their world is an ice covered nightmare, they actually live below the surface in huge lit cities with advanced tech. The surface facade is to fool enemies. No one knows their number and true intentions. Breen by nature are secretive and devoid of cultural symbolism, identity. Damn interesting.

Kirk's era for me. Still plenty of adventures to be had and be able to look great while having them. My dream would be wearing gold in command of the Enterprise. But in reality I'd either end up in blue working in xenoanthropology(is there such a thing? xenothropology?) or as some sort of duotronics technician in the engineering section wearing red.

As a follow-up to my previous post, I wonder if a Breen could ever serve on a Federation vessel?

Over time, former enemies (canonical and non-canonical) have served the Federation.

A Breen is a slight problem due to the entire hidden nature if their multi-species culture.

I suppose Spetskar could serve as Federation Special Forces, but the vocoders would have to be modified to work with others. I don't think any Breen would expose themselves as they are to wear Federation issue uniforms.

Any of them would be better than life in the 21st century. ENT is less of a step up but still you'd still be living at a time of great advancement.
TOS would be great, but TNG would be the best. Life is pretty utopian, free of prejudice, poverty, with an unbelievable quality of life. Replicators! Holodecks! Unlimited free libraries from all over the quadrant. Practical things like secure retirement, excellent health care and extended life spans, so much to learn and see.
I have a bachelor's in psychology and sociology so I'd be a counselor.
DS9 and Voyager still beat the real world, but with war and being lost in Delta Quadrant, life wouldn't be as easy and cushy as TNG.
