If we see the Enteprise D what sort fo updates could we expect???...

Thank you, that makes sense. The Enterprise-D looked appropriate in Picard's dream, Archive model and as SFC holo in season 1. After what happened to the Enterprise design in DSC, I'm still afraid that other prominent ships might be radically redesigned for change's sake.
I don’t think that’s going to happen. Between (my admittedly biased perception that) the producers having realized that too much change is a bad thing, the TNG nostalgia-fest that is Lower Decks, and the reunion of the TNG crew, I doubt we’ll be seeing any more ‘visual reboots’ of things that looked one way before but look a completely different way now.

Plus, I get the feeling that they really don’t know what to do about the visual disconnect between the TOS Enterprise and the Discoprise any more. They obviously want to use and promote the visual reboot into SNW, but still show things like the TOS interiors in “Ephraim & Dot” and the TOS Connie exteriors in LD, Prodigy and now PIC. The running idea that ‘DSC and SNW was how it always looked’ is starting to get chips in the facade.
Like I said, I think they won't. But we'll see.

What it comes down to is this: DSC was created before they knew they were going to do PIC. Once PIC became a thing, they had to un-reboot the Visual Reboot. That's the real reason we had that line in DSC Season 2 about how, "The Klingons are growing their hair again." The thing is SNW spins off directly from DSC, so they're in a mess of their own making. Card Carrying fan of Discovery here, you can't find a bigger fan of DSC than myself, and I'm saying this. SNW has done a masterful job of mashing up the TOS and DSC looks together, but it's a situation the creators dug themselves into.

That situation has nothing to do with Picard or how it depicts the TNG Era, which was never visually rebooted. So the situation with PIC and the situation with DSC/SNW is like apples and oranges.

That's a hyperbole. Season 2 and 3 also have a different art team, I can almost guarantee if we do see a Galaxy class from the outside the shuttle bays will be correct.

Also the Eaglemoss CG model did not have mirrored shuttlebays, only a couple of the physical models did.

Eaglemoss's CG models were also not 'cheapass' they're pretty damn detailed when they had to make their own.

All of Eaglemoss's Enterprise D models were pathetic. The shuttle bays were wrong, the windows were misaligned, the impulse engine was a crusty plastic mess. The holographic Enterprise D at starfleet HQ used Eaglemoss assets - which is why the shuttle bays are incorrect.

The Build your own D model was a disaster for gullible Trek fans from day one. Drooping nacelles and myriad other issues such as light leaks.

At least it won't be the USS Intiaparinu ;)
LMAO, their QC was terrible. So many problems with the models, quite a few of my ships have spelling mistakes on them even!

Mind you, you can sell these rubbish ships now for a fortune. I sold a Cerritos for £200 and a Voyager XL for £250. And that was cheap! The Cerritos is selling for £500 on ebay at the moment.

Eaglemoss were a travesty. Look at the brilliant model of the D that Aoshima produced back in the day. A really terrific bit of kit. Bandai also released some great pre-painted kits.

I just showed you a picture of Eaglemoss's CG model for the -D in that post, the shuttlebays are not mirrored. That's from the booklet for their first Ent-D release.

Whatever model they used in Starfleet HQ, it wasn't Eaglemoss's, unless the Picard artists modified it.

Yes some of Eaglemoss's physical models were rubbish, but their custom made CG models used for the magazines and box art looked great.

I wish they would update the design mostly as to account for HD screens. TNG was in SD way back when and what came across to the viewer was different from what the designs actually looked like. Watching it in HD now doesn’t have the same effect as it did originally and I can’t in part take it as seriously. This is my experience with the show anyway. So, it would be cool if they made all the edges a little sharper, added a bit more detail here and there, adjusted the size or slope of everything, etc to account for the difference of perception between the SD on a little 80’s TV and the HD on a 4k widescreen home entertainment system today.

It might be a thankless, intensive, and for some impossible effort, (and I doubt they’d take it for a ship that likely won’t be in the season all that much) but hey that’s the dream anyway.

All SNW has to do is toss in a throwaway line about starships looking very different depending on which shipyard they're built at...

I'd have to disagree, it feels the same to me, just more detailed.
To each their own. For me I see a bit of the cheapness of the materials, the blunter edges, the hairs out of place, the makeup (both human and alien) overdone to translate across SD, even some of the blocking and camera work intended for a bit more haziness. In this brave new world, I’m all for a few brave new changes, *if they can match the spirit of the original.

For 5 EUR! I imagine it was $5 as well! That's cheaper than the MMs were, right? How can anyone complain that much about such a cheap ship that had such high quality for its size? I mean, have you seen the Furuta level of detail?

I don’t think the Eaglemoss ships were pieces of garbage as you suggest. I’m pretty happy with all the models I own.

are they perfect, no. But hardly trash.
Exactly. The Intrepid, Xindi Aquatic, and Relativity are the ones that were disappointing in terms of lacking high detail, but can you get these ships anywhere else in even remotely the same size and quality?

or just embrace the idea that all of nu-Trek (Disco, Picard, SNW, LD and Prodigy) takes place in a different quantum reality and then they can just go nuts and toss continuity, canon, whatever out the window.

Clearly, they used a different model for their 3D printings than they used for renders inside their magazine then.

I read a tweet which I think was from Ben Robinson saying that the cg for the ENT-D used in Picard is the Eaglemoss cg from their Starships Collection. You can make out some minor inconsistencies that both the Eaglemoss model and the Ent-D in the series show.

Also, Eaglemoss' 3D model for the Steamrunner was used for one of the Confederacy's ships in Picard. I read this is because the CG ships from First Contact were lost and EM had to remake the ship themselves in Lightwave.

Anyway, I cannot locate the source for the above information anymore- so I have no evidence.

Yeah, there's details on the Picard Steamrunner that are only on the Eaglemoss model. The Meshweaver site I linked above has renders of their Steamrunner models on on this page. You can easily match the details on it to the one in the episode.

The Steamrunner CG model used in previous productions would have too low res to use in Picard even if they did have it:

I'd like to think that we might get some improved views of the Enterprise-D's interior; the arboretum, the main shuttlebay, some other enormous open space we never got to see in the show itself. The D's interior sets were so cramped and bland for such a gigantic ship, and even Voyager had larger interiors. It'd be nice to see some of that grandeur that previously has only been hinted at and never shown.

But as for changing the Enterprise-D design itself? Well, we've already seen it in Picard, so we know it doesn't look that that different – tweaked Bussard collectors and hull panelling aside. Will it be scaled up though, as the original Enterprise was in Strange New Worlds? That would get around the thorny issue of the Discovery being longer despite being built over a century earlier, but a 982m-long, 64-deck Galaxy-class ship would be a behemoth indeed.

The spaceship will probbly look the same, the actors however will look incredibly old and tired having been forced out of retirement to act for the entertainment of aging Trekkies. Their only recompense? Dirty old money.

The Norway was originally lost after FC. That's why we only see the Akira, Steamrunner and Saber classes in DS9 for the CGI fleet scenes. And even then, those three ships still had to be remapped from ILM's original meshes for the movie.

Now with that said, Eaglemoss's CGI models of the Akira, Steamrunner, Saber and Norway classes are far superior to their previous models, although the Akira used for the PIC fleet scene was from STO.
