CBS, which controls the TV side of Trek, would need a lot of incentive to produce a new Trek series. I think a key component will be an increasing interest in the franchise. If XI does well and the increased interest for Trek is quantifiable, then you might see something created on their end sooner rather than later.
The mind of a TV Exec. is a curious thing though. Not always logical from a fan/tv viewer's perspective. We'll have to wait and see at this point.
…and I agree the Knight Rider remake is terrible. With them, I believe NBC was able to keep that show on air despite terrible ratings due to the contracts they had with the makers of the products they were pimping in the episodes (the cars). I doubt that show will be around much longer.

In my opinion Trek should stay off television at this point, stay off the ratings wars, the weekly struggle to get an audience and all that crap.
IF Trek XI is good and successful and somewhat renews interest in Trek, they should first do a couple more sequels before considering a new TV adventure.

I agree; although, I foresee a new non-canon cartoon series like the one that came out shortly before Batman Begins.

If Star Trek returns to the small screen, also it should stay in the future... I mean 24th or beyond. Star Trek is too big to make prequels out of as Enterprise already saw. Prequels for Star Trek may prove fruitful on the big screen however, as it already is being shown (highly debated topic)
There was/is nothing wrong with the premise of Enterprise. It is a great premise. Where the series failed miserably was in it's execution. It's failure does not prove the prequel concept invalid in any way.
I for one was bored to tears with the 24th C shows and won't miss it at all if we never see it again.
Episodic TREK is in hibernation for the forseeable future. If the new movie is a huge hit and there is enough of a clammor for new TV episodes, we *might* get a new series in the next few years. But it'll be handled differently than it was in the 90s when you had TNG, DS9 and VOY all on within a year of one another and ENTERPRISE premiering just a handful of years later. Oversaturation is something the studio no longer wants.

If they believe it'll make money, they Want it. If it makes money, they want More of it. Whatever the it may be, they'll do, for love of money.
Over-saturation is a Hollywood specialty. Every studio dreams of a property they can push and sell to the point of over-saturation and beyond. Or else they hope to recycle a past success (like Trek) and raise the tent pole again.
I thought there was all kinds of interest in a new animated series? Last year this time we had a few concept sketches of a 25th century starfleet uniform. Whatever became of that?
From what I understand, an animated series is far less expensive than a live action TV show.
I agree 100 %. I would like to see more Films In this time period. Provided they left it open for that by not having Kirk take command of the enterprise yet. I think another series attemt would only make things allot worse for the franchise.
There was initial interest, and there was supposed to be such a series in development, but nothing much has been heard about it for a couple of years now.

I wouldn't mind a CLONE WARS-style CGI animated show that could reuse some of the established actors like Shatner, Picard, Frakes, et. al. A USS TITAN series on Cartoon Network perhaps? Troi and Riker's post-2379/NEMESIS adventures on their ship?

Star Trek is a religion. It is complete with its own schisms, fundalmentalists, "reformists", Centrists, Corruptors, etc...
As with all religions, bringing about change is met by various responses by all factions. But with this new film, it is seen as the Central Church Authority (Paramount) being corrupted by its own greed for profit.
