I registered for the Harry Potter Pottermore site!

Apologies in advance for the two posts in a row, but I'm not seeing the "edit" button on my previous post for whatever reason.

Anyhow, the beta site went up today and people from days 1 and 2 have reported that they're in. (I'm day 4, so I'm assuming it'll be a while before I get anything.) Anyone lucky enough to be in?

There are people from day 5 and even day 7 confirming that they're in, so consensus is that it's biased towards but not exclusive to day 1. Higher chance if you're on a different language version of the site, probably.

I have been reading spoilers all day, being incorrigible. Can anyone explain to me why I'm simultaneously irked beyond belief by JKR's voice-of-god destruction of my complex Potterworld fantasy life, yet unable to stop refreshing my email in the vain hope of getting in sooner that way? I suspect it's the nerd gene thing.

Odi et amo and I don't even have access yet. But the backstories I'm seeing leaked are killing me.

Yes, I am, registered on DAy One.

Slytherin, btw.

Are the Sorting Hat questions obvious, and did you think it gave you the correct House? (Also, the report that one of them is "heads or tails" is driving me nuts, unless it's used to break a hat stall - and even then, it's not the ideal solution.)

There is a nice variety of questions, and I was a little surprised I ended up in Slytherin (normally I get into Ravenclaw in tests ;) ) but I can see which of my "traits" could be considered Slytherin.

The only difference between the houses is the welcome text you get to each one, Gryffindor being the main one in the books gets a really short one, but the other three houses get long pieces about what they are, some famous wizards that were in it (Slytherin had a quite famous one among its ranks...) and the traits they look for.

Aah! I am a day four registrant and still awaiting my welcome e-mail (I got the 'Your in!' one but...)

*taps foot*

:)

Also a day 4 registrant still waiting (and I know several day 6 and 7 people who are waiting too.) But only about 8,000 people have been Sorted, so if you assume that 10,000 e-mails have been sent out overall thus far, that's only 1% of all registrants.

Eduardo, I know it's a common name and thus a long shot, but are you the same Eduardo as the person over at COSforums?

I don't believe I've made any posts over there yet (mostly been lurking), but I'm BronzeDragon on that forum, since that's my Pottermore username minus the numbers.

When you get beta access, if you want, send me a pm and I will pass you my username for you to look me up there.

More than likely I'd say no. That would open the legit editions up to being pirated almost immediately if ANYONE had access before anyone else.

(Not saying it won't happen regardless, but I think the smart move would be to hold off till a worldwide simultaneous release in October could be facilitated.)

Hmmm...That was pretty much my only reason for doing the beta testing. I wanted to read the e-books before October (when I start my new job). Oh, well.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread, but I wanted to let the people who are waiting for the e-books know that the Pottermore team made an announcement today stating that, although the beta concludes at the end of October, the e-books aren't going on sale until sometime in 2012.

I think it's because of all of the major site issues they've been having - they ended up letting the last 500,000 beta testers in on Sept. 27 to get them in before the promised Sept. 30 deadline, and they were having major server issues even before that. I don't own an e-reader and am not exactly sure how downloading the e-books would work, but I'm sure that getting kicked off in the middle of a purchase/download would be extremely frustrating, even if it wouldn't cause problems.

Yeah, server issues. Not sure what’s going to happen when beta’s done and there’s a whole ‘nother crowd joining.

I’m enjoying Pottermore, but need to practice the spells and potions. Can’t do a lot of potions because there’s a huge wait time and the servers going down kinda ruins any chances of completing them. Spells (through dueling) is closed right now. So the betas who got in early really got to roll along.

Oh, I was sorted into Ravenclaw. I don’t think that’s surprising for a self-described “geek.” Very happy with that result. And I’m not on Pottermore for hours on end, partially due to the server problems.

My girlfriend has said the site is a pretty underwhelming experience, lacking in gameplay and features, and that they apparently blew the whole budget on pretty graphics rather than having any depth. Doesn't sound very entertaining.
