I registered for the Harry Potter Pottermore site!

I got my email earlier this week, and have spent a few minutes actually doing stuff on the site ... and a few hours clicking "refresh" when the server gets hosed.

Once again, they did not think this through.

My girlfriend has said the site is a pretty underwhelming experience, lacking in gameplay and features, and that they apparently blew the whole budget on pretty graphics rather than having any depth. Doesn't sound very entertaining.

Does your girlfriend not realize the primary purpose of the site is to find the best means to separate her from her money?

Yeah, I got in a few days ago and spent all of 15 minutes on it before I got tired of page load lags, server errors, and flashy visuals with no interactive value beyond a slight zoom.

Way to blow it Pottermore Dev Team.

Kind of hard since they aren't selling anything yet. :p

I think the main thing they’ll be selling (next year) is e-copies of the books. The rest can be ordered online somewhere, right?

Seems like the site has been functioning much more smoothly in the last few days. Overall, it's a bit disappointing, but worthwhile for the additional info from JKR. I love the backstory on Minerva McGonagall.

^Good to know it's working a bit better.

I'd given up on using it anytime soon due to all the problems loading pages and whatnot.

And I'd be very interested to learn of the backstory for Minerva McGonagall.

^It's way too soon to give up on it. They're continuing the beta at least through the end of October and promising some changes (hopefully improvements!) based on the feedback they're getting.

I haven't looked into it, but isn't the pottermore site in beta and hard to access. That's the impression I got from the thread.

Anyway, yes, if someone wanted to share, I'd be grateful.

Yes, Pottermore is in beta through October, but some of us (about 1 million worldwide, supposedly) have access as beta's. I'll have to try potions again, if access is consistent.

Yes, McGonagall IS a badass. The extra info definitely points her that way.

^Good to know. I always had the inkling that a master of transmogrification would be a baddass in oh so many ways.

Plus she's an Animagus, which is like 15 or 20 bonus pts. right there.

Oh, and she also has a lost love story. Thank god! I did not believe that she would never have loved anyone.

Over 632,000 people worldwide have been sorted. A slightly greater number in Ravenclaw, but Slytherin has a slight lead in house points.

I just signed up for this today, and I started off pretty good, but now I can't get to the second part of Sorcerer/Philosopher's Stone Chapter Five, Harry and Hagrid visit Grigotts unlocked. How do I open it?

I joined up last week and played through the first book, not bad but it needs a few bug fixes, it's really slow even on a good broadband connection but it's mainly the page loading problems than CPU. Sorted into Ravenclaw (my favourite House) and just going back over the book to see what I might have missed.

I searched all of the pages, and through my trunk, and even went into the store, and I couldn't find anything that I missed.

Fun, though. I haven't done any duels or even potions. I think I'm a bit anti-social, even on most websites. For all my years here, I don't have that many posts.
