It might have been a mercy killing. I am not sure continuing to live as Harry Kim is a kindness.
They did kill him. Then they just brought in a new Harry Kim. He's the Duncan Idaho of Star Trek.

Except he doesn't have metallic eyes.
I keep saying it, but the rules of the Star Trek Universe clearly state that for there to be. James T Kirk, there must be a Harry Kim to balance the scales.Having to say "No" when Seven asked him if he wanted to sleep with her must have been excruciating.![]()
Neither did most of the Duncan Idaho's![]()
The one that was programmed to kill Usul did.

Oh and Shalashaska, fun game going forward. Start paying attention to everyone's rank and positions. For example Tuvok just got promoted. Tom Paris goes up and down weekly. Pay special attention to Nog. Then look at Harry Kim. It's fascinating. And probably tells you far more about Janeway then you would imagine.
Some producer/writer knew how to wring great performances out otherwise limited actors.Pay special attention to Nog.

He was the only one that did, the hundreds after were unaltered until Heretics, then that Duncan had updated speed, strength, etc but still real eyes.
I'd say a better reply would be "But Duncan Idaho got laid."![]()
Surely, it is simple. An actors that is good at playing a particular type is pushed to give a deeper and more varied performance. Ta-da!How can you say that an actor is limited if they give a great performance. That's a contradiction in terms.
