I Have Begun the Journey

Starbreaker

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
I have seen the movie, and the occasional episodes here and there, even watching Stargate: Atlantis for the first full season. I have recently borrowed the first season of SG-1 from a friend and I plan on watching until my eyeballs bleed tonight. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. I've never been a fan, but I think it's time I give it a fair chance.

I did something similar over the summer and I became hooked!! I hope you enjoy it. It's a fun ride.:techman:

Children of the Gods 3/4

Interesting pilot. I can tell the budget was fairly large. There is a good setup for the characters, some good music, and some pretty awesome special effects. No arguments for full frontal nudity either. I read that there is a new version being released on DVD with rescored music, updated effects, and new scenes. I guess I'll be watching that version, too. I really like O'Neill's sarcasm and Jackson's giddy science nature. I think I can really get attached to these characters now that I'm watching from the beginning. I'm about to start on The Enemy Within. Not looking forward to Emancipation, but I guess I'll watch for the sake of completion.

Update: The Enemy Within: 3/4

Nothing really memorable about this episode either, but I liked it.

Sheeeet, if you give Emancipation three out of four, you'll enjoy what is to come.

Personally, I'd grade it a zero out of four, but I'm a bit more critical.

Okay, a lot more critical. :p

Nah, Emancipation is dumb. Definitely one of the worst episodes of the entire series.

Season 1 is pretty typical first season stand-alone type stuff, but it does also have some really awesome episodes in there.

No not emancipation... sorry. The one before that one. I was busy trying to text and type. Emancipation is dumb. I hate these types of stories.

A lot of us hate what Stargate has become, but everyone here will tell you that Emancipation is TERRIBLE! Easily one of the top 3 worst Stargate episodes, and that is saying something.

OK... where was I? What frontal nudity? I must have been too buzzed or something. Anybody, please refresh my memory...

When Sha're is having the Gou'ald placed in here. It was on the first Showtime airing and on the DVD only apparently.

Children of the Gods - ***
The Enemy Within - ***
Emancipation - **
The Broca Divide - **
The First Commandment - **
Cold Lazarus - ***

Most of these epiosdes have been cliche, but I can't stop watching!

Thank you sir. I don't know how but I'm going to have to find some way to watch it. Its kind of hazy that far back:confused:. I remember watching the previews but I can't remember actually seeing the premier episode for the serial.

The original pilot had Sha're stripped completely naked during the scene when Apophis implants her with a symbiote. It's on the DVD version.

Yeah, "Children of the Gods" had the Showtime-mandated nudity.

A new version of that episode is being worked on for a new DVD release. It will remove the nudity once and for all. All in all, it will be seven minutes shorter than the original version, with new music by Joel Goldsmith, one additional scene and an altered opening sequence.

The nudity is mainly going because it's felt that this doesn't reflect the more family-orientated show that followed the pilot.

I don't mind the nudity going. It doesn't reflect the overall tone of even the rest of 'Children of the Gods,' let alone the series regular. I wouldn't have minded if they had set out to make a more adult oriented series from the outset, but they went in a different direction, and a re-edit (that will also be able to replace some of the mediocre re-use of music) is welcome for that reason IMO.

While I thought the nudity was done in a tasteful enough way, I have to agree. It just doesn't fit with the rest of the series, and it kind of takes you out of the moment if you don't expect it.

Does anyone know why The Nox is on a different spot on the DVDs than the airdate or production code?

TV episodes aren't always shot in the order they're intended to air.

The original UK VHS release of this show had loads of more "high profile" episodes shunted to the start of the season.

Brief Candle - ***
Thor's Hammer - ***
The Torment of Tantalus - ****

Had to skip over a few episodes because discs 3 & 4 were loaned out to someone else.

There But For the Grace of God - ****
Politics - * (This is One Nation Under God!!! Terrible actor)
Within the Serpent's Grasp - ****
The Serpent's Lair - ****
Prisoners - ***
The Gamekeeper - **

I'm liking S2 more than S1 so far!
