Is it bad that I'd rather follow Pike and the Enterprise in a Discovery Season 3 than find out wherever Burnham and co went?

I'm not interested in the post TNG period. Tell us more about Kirk's era!

There is a reason these things sell so well:

I’ve enjoyed the season but I do wish the show runners were a little less subtle

Kurtzman explained the non-Discovery ending as “the season started with sister talking to brother, and finished with brother talking to sister”

Huh?? Were we meant to remember that and notice the subtle symmetry??

Please showrunners, forget the little things that are in your head! Make it inspiring for the viewers!

I get that you haven’t worked out where Discovery has ended up yet - but you don’t have to.

Just finish with the crew on Discovery - you know, the crew that we have to love and feel attached to so that we really look forward to season three - so we can see they all survived in one piece, and finish with Saru saying something non-specific but inspiring like Culber did eg “I’m not sure where we are, but I do know one thing - we are family, and we are in this together”

SOMETHING INSPIRING THAT MAKES US FEEL LIKE WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!

Not that hard surely people....

huh?

I'd call the Discovery going into a time-warp hole and us not seeing where it comes out is more than a bit of a cliff-hanger.
Last two episodes they were attempting to escape into the future and this is exactly what they did (as far as we can see). Everything going according to plan is the opposite of a cliff-hanger. Considering they switched last 5 minutes to Star Trek: Pike pilot, it defuses any drama about Discovery even more.

So I guess I was way off in my theory about the finale. So now either Discovery is 51,000 ly away or in the 32nd century. So season 3 will either be a Voyager rehash or about a crew and ship 930 years behind the times trying to assimilate into a future so distant even English should be gibberish to them. Both ideas sound uninteresting to me.

EDIT: There is a third option that they ended up in a time where the Federation has fallen and Discovery has to restore it. They could even have Kevin Sorbo come in as the new captain! If they start mining other Roddenberry properties for ideas (Andromeda) that means they're hacks.

TBH I want both. I'm not interested in where they went, but I'm interested in *them*

And more TOS-adjacent Trek, please.
