Cast and crew have told reporters that the end of season 2 will change everything for the show recently...

    http://trekcore.com/blog/2019/03/st...n-2-unexpected-ending-will-change-everything/

    What does this mean?

I am rememberred by that quote from Kurtzman, almost a year ago, where he said that Burnham's story with Spock could only be told this year... Does that mean she dies or the USS Discovery will go to another timeline or another Trek era?

But, Georgiou will be seen in season 3 and then move on to her own Section 31 series... How can that happen if the show changes timelines or move to another era?

Personally, I think Discovery will jump centuries and get lost. Hence 'Calypso'.

    What do you guys think?

I’m sticking with a theory i’ve said before that the Discovery, without Pike and Spock, will jump to the far future, opening up the 23rd century for a Pike spinoff.

I like that idea, but how can Georgiou still appear during season 3 of Discovery? Or will her Section 31 show also be set in a future timeline?

All of the above will happen. The Pulaski Picard ending will rival the space nazi ending of ENT season 3 as the most WTF cliffhanger ever.

I think that it’s possible for a more lo-fi solution. Having to take Control out of the equation, they send Discovery into the future with the AI aboard. That way Calypso happens. (I don’t recall but I’m not certain any exact timeline is given IN episode. It could be further ahead than we realize.) The crew gets a new ship. In the meantime, because advanced Federation tech is susceptible to AI interfering with systems, they have to downgrade. No holography. No super smart computers. No cybernetic augmentation. What this might mean for Detmer, I’m not sure. Perhaps she gets attacked/taken over/killed by Control. Perhaps she has to lose her eye. But it puts Disco then on course with TOS. I don’t personally think this is necessary as I have always been fine with the idea of this show looking a little more futuristic. But it has been a key complaint from a lot of fans. So if this is any close to true, I don’t blame them for making this choice.

Pulaski yells at Picard because Picard wants to talk down the Space Nazis instead of just shooting them.

Not too sure about movie Picard, though. :shifty:

Seriously, though, I haven't the foggiest. The ship being thrown into the future would be my guess, but all options seem equally likely.

Could happen, but making the show look more like TOS would mean Discovery (a show that takes place in the distant future) would feel antiquated by even today's standards. Technology has taken a big leap since TOS, so to show that in 200 years time we still have the same technology as we thought we would have in the 1960's, I don't know, seems weird.

    First, nuBSG.
Second, I totally agree with you.

Edited: but that doesn’t mean they have to go all the way back to the 1960s tech. Just less so then what we see in the show.

Control just goes into hiding, to pop back up later in the 2370’s

Eventually, Picard finds archaeological evidence of Control being the origin of the Borg (Borg #1 is wearing a Starfleet "Delta" pin), then goes off to the Delta Quadrant to free the Borg once and for all. He'll need super-quantum slipstream of course.

"USS Discovery is sent to another time" is how I voted. "USS Enterprise saves the day" will probably happen, but I'm guessing that's not THE end of the season.

With the Georgiou Series: does that necessarily mean it's also a Section 31 Series? I thought yes, but does it have to be? And who says there can't be Section 31 in the 33rd Century? I'm not saying I think Discovery doesn't get back to the 23rd Century if it leaves it, but I'm wondering if it has to in order to keep the current characters on the show? Minus anyone who appears in TOS.

I imagine this will happen at the end of this week's episode or during next.

The least "out there" possibility is that the process of "fixing" the TL results in us getting to what people would recognize as the "prime universe." I say that because Kurtzman has also said by the season's end everything will "align with canon" - which sure sounds like a timeline fix. Obviously the main cast would likely have to continue on in some way, meaning Discovery (or at least the core cast of Discovery) isn't affected by the reset, though Pike and Spock are. Part of the reset involves Michael not growing up in Sarek's house, hence Spock no longer recognizes her as a sister.

As always, the niggling thing which makes not work for me as a scenario is their plans for MU Georgiou. I don't see how a timeline fix - or a time skip - work when they want her to be a recurring character next season and to have her own Section 31-themed series the following season.

It would be silly yes to make it look like 1960.

However you could make some similarities to it.
