Roseanne has a long history of racist, xenophobic, antisemitic (before she went the other way and started calling anyone critical of Israeli policy "Nazis"), and conpiracist social media posts. She went after the victim of the Parkland school shooting on the day her show was rebooted.I may hate what Roseanne tweeted but I don't hate her and she deserves a chance to redeem herself. Others have said and done far worse and gotten away with it. That comedian who called Trump's daughter a cunt is nothing but a bully who would gladly do it again.

Sam Bee crossed the line one time while giving an impassioned speech pleading to a woman who claims to care about children to do something about her father's horrible policy of separating children from their parents.
If you can't see the difference in attacking entire groups of people for simply being different from you and attacking one person for standing idly by while children are needlessly traumatized, or if you are speaking out of ignorance of Roseanne's MANY past and present issues, than that is on you to rectify, not everyone else.
Of course she knew she was black, otherwise an insult playing upon centuries of dehumanizing comparisons of black people to apes wouldn't have had any effectiveness. If she can't say it without crude derogatory language she isn't the person to bring this issue to Ivanka Trump or anyone else. Calling someone a cunt and calling someone an ape are both vile insults. Only Roseanne has been punished and it's dubious whether she even knew Valerie was a person of color in the first place. If Samantha Bee is forgiven then Roseanne should be too in my opinion.
Stop trying to compare the two things like they have anything to do with each other, apart from happening around the same time. Roseanne is not "the only person who has been punished" for saying something racist.
No, Sam Bee made an offensive remark in service of a good cause and immediately apologized for it. Ivanka has achieved nothing on the issue of helping children, something she claims to care about and has a much greater power to influence than Sam Bee does, seeing as how she works for the White House, is the daughter of the President, and married to one of his chief advisers who was placed in charge of damn near everything at one point. That was the whole point of the segment, that Ivanka should be "achieving something" to help these kids. Where's your anger at her? Why isn't that considered offensive? She's more worried about improving her financial portfolio.Sam Bee is offensive and achieved nothing.
