How spolied do you want to be?

...I'd rather have any potential sad/angry breakdowns in the comfort of my own home than a public theater.

I know.

Some people get so FUSSY about a fellow movie-goer who's screaming, throwing things at the screen, and shouting "Gather torches! This monster must be BURNED!!!"...

....ummm....

...I mean, I SUPPOSE they might get fussy over such things.

Naturally I wouldn't know anything about it.

Anyone who claims I do LIES!!!!

:D

With a show like this, I'm not really trying to remain spoiler free as much as I do with, say, Doctor Who or Heroes. One reason for that is the current incarnation of Doctor Who, along with Heroes, involve ongoing storylines and story arcs and to have developments spoiled for me, or to find out certain characters are going to appear or die or whatever, that bugs me a bit more than something like Trek XI.

That doesn't mean I'll run out and read the script when it leaks, or that I want to know every little thing that happens. But at the same time there really isn't a hell of a lot in terms of surprises that can be spoiled. We know no one is going to be killed off, that's a given (unless they have Nimoy's Spock die of old age, I guess).

So I'm willing to be spoiled for Trek XI a bit more than I would be for other franchises. I do want to see what the 1701 looks like and I look forward to seeing how the new crew looks and whether their uniforms will translate to the big screen, etc.

So unlike my attitude towards spoilers elsewhere, I'm pretty easy going about it with regard to Trek Xi.

Cheers!

But this is about a new Trek MOVIE, not a show!

I'll probably read all the spoilers but not the script. I've never really had the desire to read one. That's just knowing too much.

I remember as a teen (and a huge TOS fan -- I basically knew every script) I went to see TWoK in the theaters knowing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the film. I didn't know it had anything to do with Khan or 'Space Seed', which was among my top 5 episodes.

I remember having the exact same "OH SHIT!!" feeling that Chekov had at the moment that he recognized the name 'Botany Bay'. That was pretty cool to have the same emotions in the theater that the characters had on screen. I can still vividly remember the thrill I got in the theater upon this discovery and revelation regarding Khan's ship.

For this upcoming film, I'm a bit torn...I want to know something general about the plot (I think) because I'm the type of person that ususally likes to be generally well-informed. However, I also want to be able to have the same sort of "blissful ignorance" that I had with TWoK. The one thing I definitely want to see is the ship and sets.

;) Oh...and by the way, even though I knew all of TOS word-for word as a Teenage Star Trek Geek, I still grew up kissing girls, got a good job out of college, got married, had a child, and haven't lived with my mother since I was 18. ;)

:scream:

Do you realize you've just RUINED the reputations of countless Trekkies?

So many years of striving to maintain an illusion of geekiness, and in one post you go and ruin EVERYTHING!

I'm going to put my Spock ears on and pet my tribble...

What is your definition of "show"?

Shows are movies, TV series and live performances. I'm not quite sure what your definition is.

I am to be completely unspoiled. I already feel a bit queasy that I know the villain's name, and I am slowly disengaging from these forums and other Trek venues as I know the spoiler alerts are likely to rise. It is a sacrifice, but I absolutely hate spoilers with a passion bordering on zealotry. I'm willing to lose the BBS for a year to protect the incredible sensation when I sit down and find out that they actually did sneak Shatner into the movie while I wasn't looking.

Totally. Like I said above, I want to know minor things (like a brief synopsis/preview, and things that you see in trailers), but nothing more than that. Staying away from the board will be tough though. I was away for about 6 weeks just recently, and I was jonesing like mad!
