How much of an adjustment will Emperor Georgiou have?

Apparently the Mirror universe also went PC. :)
I don’t think calling her Empress diminishes her. It was just done to hide the reveal, even if everyone knew it was going to be her.
The kept the masculin names in her other titles though, even after she was revealed.

Except ‘Mother if the Fatherland’

Well, now that the Yeoh series has officially been announced, I'm even more curious what they'll do with the character. It's a smart move, potentially, given how people seem to have taken to Georgiou, especially outside traditional Trek nerd circles. Looks like the show will be written by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt, which is good for Yeoh's show but a potential loss for Disco.

I could actually see Georgiou's story being bizarrely a kind of redemptive arc. She did not want to come here, she would have preferred to die at home but now she has to make the best of things. She'll want to be in power, because people in power always do. She will have grown up in the biggest pressure cooker of palace intrigue imaginable, so in one regard section 31 is a good fit, but she doesn't seem to have any knack at being covert.

People in the MU must belong to a different species because of the things they do to themselves. Mussolini and Ceausescu learned the hard way that in this Universe when you treat people very badly, you get sometimes paid back in full.

Calling her "Empress" doesn't diminish her at all. It's just silly and unnecessary. Why do we need a variation of the word "Emperor" in order to denote the wearer's gender? If "Emperor", which carries no gender connotation, is good enough for a man, why would it not also be adequate for a woman?
Except ‘Mother (o)f the Fatherland’
Unquestionably my favorite of Emperor Georgiou's many titles. I still think it's some kind of in-joke which she enjoys every time she hears it.

You could say the same about "king". What do we need the word "queen" for?

Well, if it's an "in-joke" then I'd be interested to hear the "in-story" related to it.

Might be the MU folks have it better organized than we do, and "Empress" is "female consort to Emperor" and as such a non-ruling person, while there's a word for "male consort to Emperor" that is a non-ruling person as well.

Might be there's no need for that, though, as no Emperor ever lets any of his or her consorts gain any sort of status or permanence or other opportunity for backstabbing...
