Well put, TMPF.Insurrection: The best two-parter next gen never did. Really this is more of a telefilm writ large. I... thought F. Murray Abraham was a good villain and made the most of the material given to him.

This doesn't bother me because - strange as it may seem - I enjoy the hell out of TOS despite Kirk. I didn't cheer when the character died but I wasn't the least bit sorry, either. In retrospect, I don't like how Kirk died.
Agreed. The pathetic "reasoning" TPTB offered for destroying the E-D didn't impress me much, either.I don't like that the Enterprise-D was destroyed, or how.
This is probably my main gripe with First Contact. I really enjoy the movie, but FC-Cochrane and TOS-Cochrane may as well occupy separate universes; about all they have in common is the name "Zephram Cochrane".I don't like the revisionist portrayal of Zefram Cochrane.
Agreed again. Butt-ugly ship.I don't like the Enterprise-E.
Agreed again.I don't like the Remans. I don't like Shinzon.
Data "dying" was one thing. The fact that the emotional impact of his death was completely crapped away about 10 minutes later was much, much worse. And I certainly don't like that Data died.
it really is the film that is the most like show the films were based on. We wouldn't have batted an eye if it was a TNG two parter. Yet now it is unwatchable.![]()
I suppose the only logical conclusion is that you find most of TNG unwatchable.
God, I can't think of any two parters on TNG that were worth a damn other than BoBW. Well, All Good Things, of course--but only if that counts. Descent, Birthright, Unification, Gambit, Time's Arrow, and Encounter at Farpoint are all very flawed. Still all better than Insurrection, but not all that great.
This is pretty much how I feel. I was excited about seeing TNG go to the big screen with Generations. Then in '96, it was exciting to see a fresh start with the new Enterprise. The next two movies after that weren't as fresh or revolutionary. Insurrection had a decent story, but it didn't feel like a big epic movie event and Nemesis came off like a product rather than a movie.I was excited when I saw Generations in the theaters because it was only a few months after TNG ended, and there was a lot of interest at the time about these characters moving into films like the TOS characters did.
I was even more excited about FC, mainly because of the Borg and a new starship Enterprise.
