In retrospect, I don't like how Kirk died.
This doesn't bother me because - strange as it may seem - I enjoy the hell out of TOS despite Kirk. I didn't cheer when the character died but I wasn't the least bit sorry, either.
I don't like that the Enterprise-D was destroyed, or how.
Agreed. The pathetic "reasoning" TPTB offered for destroying the E-D didn't impress me much, either.
I don't like the revisionist portrayal of Zefram Cochrane.
This is probably my main gripe with First Contact. I really enjoy the movie, but FC-Cochrane and TOS-Cochrane may as well occupy separate universes; about all they have in common is the name "Zephram Cochrane".
I don't like the Enterprise-E.
Agreed again. Butt-ugly ship.
I don't like the Remans. I don't like Shinzon.
Agreed again. :bolian:
And I certainly don't like that Data died.
Data "dying" was one thing. The fact that the emotional impact of his death was completely crapped away about 10 minutes later was much, much worse.

I only really liked FC and GEN. I thought INS was okay, just underwhelming. And NEM was a disappointment, but I don't think its complete crap, though there was much room for improvement. With a few tweaks it could've been a good to great close for the TNG crew.

I like three. I really don't like sitting through Generations, and I think that First Contact is the only truly great one.

I think it is funny how so many people find "Insurrection" so unwatchable, when it really is the film that is the most like show the films were based on. We wouldn't have batted an eye if it was a TNG two parter. Yet now it is unwatchable. :D

I suppose the only logical conclusion is that you find most of TNG unwatchable.

(Not that I am a huge fan of "Insurrection" - but I do enjoy many of the character moments, and it is probably my favorite TNG film if I had to chose)

Nah, one of the reasons I dislike it (as well as "Generations" and "Nemesis") is because among its other problems, it is vastly inferior to the best TNG episodes. If it was a two parter, I would consider it one of the weaker two-parters.

There are many episodes, two parters and even single episodes that are much more epic and better written, directed, and acted (despite inferior production values due to smaller TV budgets), like "The Best of Both Worlds" and "Yesterday's Enterprise".

God, I can't think of any two parters on TNG that were worth a damn other than BoBW. Well, All Good Things, of course--but only if that counts. Descent, Birthright, Unification, Gambit, Time's Arrow, and Encounter at Farpoint are all very flawed. Still all better than Insurrection, but not all that great.

Yeah, that's true. Like you, I'm not a big fan of most TNG two parters other than "The Best of Both Worlds" and the series finale. Most of them didn't really have an interesting enough story to justify being a two parter, and a few of them sucked and would have still sucked even if they were only one part. Still, either of those two parters we've agreed on liking are twice the movie that "Insurrection" and "Nemesis" were.

I like all of them except Nemesis. I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to bad episodes of Trek, such as Code of Honor and Shades of Gray and I do not skip them when watching them on DVD, but Nemesis just puts me off for reasons a lot of you have already mentioned. For me, it's that bad.

Generations has some massive plotholes in it, but it's the only film where the characters seem to be more or less the same people we knew from the tv series, at least until they start pissing around with Data's memory chip. In the other movies, Picard is a complete tosser and out of character.

"Chain of Command"?!?

I liked all 4 to a greater or lesser extent. Only 3 of them were good movies though. I agree that the TOS movies were better. FC is probably the only one that was on a par with the TOS films.

I voted for two of the movies.

I was excited when I saw Generations in the theaters because it was only a few months after TNG ended, and there was a lot of interest at the time about these characters moving into films like the TOS characters did.

I was even more excited about FC, mainly because of the Borg and a new starship Enterprise.
This is pretty much how I feel. I was excited about seeing TNG go to the big screen with Generations. Then in '96, it was exciting to see a fresh start with the new Enterprise. The next two movies after that weren't as fresh or revolutionary. Insurrection had a decent story, but it didn't feel like a big epic movie event and Nemesis came off like a product rather than a movie.

All of them to varying degrees.

First contact and Nemesis I liked a lot

Generations was a good watch and Insurrection was fine but more like an extended episode.

Insurrection: The best two-parter next gen never did. Really this is more of a telefilm writ large. I... thought F. Murray Abraham was a good villain and made the most of the material given to him.
Well put, TMPF.:techman:

Many agreed, even 11 years ago. At the time a close Trekker pal of mine said "they could have done that as a two-part DS9 episode and saved millions of bucks. AND probably had it be seen by more people worldwide."

I like all four TNG movies, personally. Though, First Contact is my favorite of the four.

"Chain of Command"?!?
Okay, that's a good one.

Although I'll concede Chain of Command as a good one only with the caveat that even it wasn't that interesting until the last few minutes of part 1, and could perhaps have just as easily been a single part episode. The set up was unimportant and felt padded--particularly with a stereotypically boorish Ferengi--and the tyranny of Jellico and the resistance of the crew to his no-nonsense style not that fascinating--indeed, at turns it was unprofessional to the point of juvenile and insulting to the regular characters and the guest.

Part 1 is only compelling in light of Part 2.

But all that said, it's miles ahead of the others I mentioned, and it was a grave oversight to forget it. :)

I only like First Contact.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled ignoring or loathing of QuasarVM.

I enjoyed 'Generations' and 'First Contact,' so I'll say two. I don't think any of the TNG films were perfect, but I think those two were the only good ones.

For me it's:

FC

GENS

...

INS

NEM
