Spoilers How do you want Picard season 3 to end?

Why would you love this?!
I only saw Blakes' 7 about 4 or 5 years ago. Had no clue that ending was coming. I will never forget it. My sister and I were slack jawed, staring at the TV amazed they had the balls to end a show like that. And that was made in 1981!

Happy endings are nice and all, but once in awhile I like something utterly nihilistic. If it was up to me, I'd have ended Marvel with Infinity War

Haha, damn. Can't say I'd make the same decisions as you would on this stuff, but I respect it.

Yeah, I just finished Blake's 7 earlier this year, myself. That was... wild.

I want Picard to point towards the screen for one more “Engage!”

Alternatively, Picard doing one last “These Are The Voyages” voiceover, ala Leonard Nimoy at the end of Wrath of Khan. This could work whether he dies or not lol.

So long as Picard doesn't end up with Laris (at all, ever, under any circumstances), and none of the TNG crew die / turn out to be changelings, I don't care. (I hold out absolutely no hope whatsoever for either of those things, so I'm bound to be disappointed.) Surprise me, showrunners.

Like Blake’s 7.
:guffaw:

As my username may indicate, B7 is my favourite ever SF series (along with B5 and Farscape), and its final episode was for years my absolute gold standard for series finales. No way in hell anything like it will ever happen for any Trek show but it's an interesting thought. :D

Seven is called Seven like she prefers
This would be excellent. Shaw's insistence that she be known by a name that's been meaningless to her since she was six years old was stupid beyond any attempt at description. Call her by her name, FFS.

After beating the bad guys:

- Picard and Jack spend time together at the Vineyard and get to know each other as father and son. Crusher and Picard rekindle their friendship but not their romance and Crusher is made Head of Starfleet medical for the third time.

- Worf and Raffi continue to work together as buddy cop sub-contractors flying around helping people and taking the odd job for Starfleet Intelligence. Raffi finally reconnects with her Son.

- Riker returns to Starfleet as Captain of the Enterprise G and makes Commander Seven his first officer. The final shot is of the Enterprise G setting out on an exploration mission far beyond the borders of the Federation. Deanna as usual joins as ship's counsellor and diplomatic specialist and Kestra enters Starfleet academy.

Given all the callbacks…

The final shot is at a poker game with the cast singing “Row Row Row Your Boat”.

But this is a WoK homage. Alternatively they all are killed but Data somehow is back (via Lore) and the next series is “Search for Picard (and friends)”. This time unlike Spock the crew ends up younger / recast.

The series after that is about whales.

The problem is “Seven of Nine” isn’t actually a name, but a description. She could, of course, continue to adopt Seven as a name, but what would the crew actually call her, “Commander Of Nine”? Id kind of assumed she’d use her given name for official purposes and filling out paperwork and whatnot, and just have friends call her Seven?

Anyway, I would also love a homage to the end of ST VI for the closing scene of PIC. Given M’Talas’s predilection for referencing past movies I’m hopeful. I want to see the crew on board the new Enterprise, and Picard given command of the bridge for one last time: “follow the second star to the right and straight on til morning…let’s see what’s out there.”

I actually wish the closing scene of TUC had been the last we’d seen of any of the original characters. It was the perfect closure for them. I’d happily have not seen Kirk, Chekov and Scotty again in GENERATIONS or Spock in 09 and INTO DARKNESS, nor Sulu in VOY’s crappy anniversary episode. The signing off was too perfect an ending. I hope for something as simple and powerful for TNG’s crew.

Assuming Shaw has suffered significant Borg-related trauma, possibly even being a survivor of Wolf 359 (I'm just hazarding a guess that the USS Constance, from the closing credits, was one of his postings), I can understand why he wouldn't want a reminder of that shoved in his face every day.

Then again, he did ask for Seven specifically as his XO. So there's that.

I'm going for a bold preferred ending which would be some kind of Q-style all good things test and it ends up with Picard back on the Enterprise D or right after nemesis and he has the chance to do everything "right". Ie grow up with his son etc.

Also where the God damn hell are my conspiracy bugs? I would have taken that over changelings

Picard wakes up in a cold sweat, screaming. He realizes that it was all a dream, and today is the day he takes command of the Enterprise-D. He looks at himself in the mirror and notes he looks nothing like the guy in his dream. Cue the TNG recast and reboot series.

There's a version of this where she reclaims her pre-Borg identity as a show of strength, integrating both parts of her history and choosing to go by both Seven and Annika as situations demand. Like, Shaw is an asshole for forcing it on her, but it's not as black and white as "Annika identity bad, Seven identity good." She's basically continuing to be defined by the most traumatic thing that ever happened to her.

At this point I think it's reasonable to assume it's become the name by which she prefers to be called. Whether or not she's bothered to make it her official name is beside the point, IMO.

Commander Seven, I'd imagine. Seemed easy enough for LaForge.

Then again, he did ask for Seven specifically as his XO.
Which suggests he's either an idiot or has some psychological issue, either of which should preclude him from captaincy. He has issues with (ex) Borg, so he requests one as his first officer. He then demonstrates he has no respect whatever for her by insisting she call herself by a name she chooses - for whatever reason(s) - not to use. The mileage of others will vary but it's another reason I can't take him even slightly seriously as a command figure.
