How do you think broadcasting works in Trek?
We know from Prodigy/Picard that the attack on Mars was broadcast live to Earth, but is that just a local network? Was Vulcan also watching it live? Bajor?
Are starships ‘an island’ for news until they reach a Starbase or pass a subspace ‘node’ that updates the onboard news server/send & receives mail? Like Casey Yates taking ‘days’ to get info.
It seems likely that Starfleet comms have priority for the network given the amount of calls to HQ from the middle of nowhere we have seen. Or Starfleet has its own network.
Are there Federation wide news services Ala News 24? Do they just broadcast the biggest stories from Earth and/or across the UFP, which must get repetitive? How would they take into account local sensibilities?
We saw Fleet magazine in Lower Decks, do you think PADD based magazines are common?
Have the Ferengi tried to get into the publishing biz in the UFP? What sort of media do the Klingons have?
What sort of social media exists in the 24thC? Forum style? FB style? Twitter style ? All of the above?
Any place for actual print (electronic paper?) outside of museums?
