"historical" episodes of The Vampire Diaries?

So Temis, did you finish season two yet? Did you like it more than season one?

The last of the S2 eps hasn't aired so it's not on my DVR yet - I think CW's timing them to synch up with the new season which starts in just over a week. But I'll get thru the last 4-5 before Sept 15, I have them saved.

Anyway, I already know some spoilery stuff because I read the TV Guide descriptions. But they messed up and referred to Vicki as Jeremy's sister. Ew. :rommie:

My favorite character on the show is Caroline. She really took off as a character after being turned into a vampire. I think Candice Accola is so lovely. :adore:

^Hell, I'd consider seeing the Buffy remake if they cast her as Buffy. She'd be awesome.

I'm so excited for S3! I miss Damon's eyes.

(btw, when I read the first post in this thread, I decided to go look at the actor's real ages, and was surprised to find that Ian Somerhalder is 32...I totally would've guessed he was still in his 20s! Now I won't feel like a creep when I check him out anymore, he's older than me! yay!)

I am staying totally spoiler free. I don't want to know what is happening until I see it with my sleepy little eyeballs!

Just three more eps to go!

Okay, if the Renaissance flashbacks in England are dated 1492, then how can Klaus and Elijah know about the Aztecs, considering that Cortez didn't encounter them until 1519?

This is a pretty carefully written show, with plenty of evidence that the writers are remembering little details, such as whether or not a character is taking vervain or if a vampire can enter a certain residence. So I wonder if that discrepancy is intentional, and a sign of some interesting plot twist that would explain how the vampire brothers would know about the New World before everyone else?

Klaus and Elijah haven't told us how old their family is, yet, or whether they might have travelled to the New World on an ice bridge during the Ice Age (isn't there some rule about vampires travelling over water?) or even how the seven kids became vampires if there were no vampires previously?

Also, Possessed Alaric was pretty hot, my kind of villain. :D I'm kind of bummed he went back to his original body. I was hoping Klaus had no original body, and would have to stick with Alaric indefinitely.

Possessed Alaric was fun, but not worth sacrificing the awesome bromance of Damon/Alaric. Damon needs a buddy. :D

Plus Joseph Morgan is great as Klaus, so it's a win either way. :)

Oh, and if you decide you like Joseph, check him out in the first season of Hex - where he's one of the hapless teens being stalked by a supernatural menace. :D Yeah, he went from stalkee to stalker. :D

I am on the final four episodes and will get them watched tomarrow. I love this show and is now my replacement for smallville as favorite show.

Uhhh...I'll watch all three tonight!

There's a documentary about a rat attack in India that looks pretty cool that may pose a distraction. But if I have to stay up past my bedtime, I will get to them! :rommie:

I am finished and I loved it. main question now what is up with jeremy at the season end and was steffen drinking klaus's blood to become a hybrid?

The last three TVD eps were certainly eventful! :D OTOH, the rat-attack doc was a bit of a bust, only watched about half of it.

John's sacrifice for Elena was very touching.

Question about Jeremy: what happened to his Magic Revival Ring that brought him back from the dead before? And howcome that time he wasn't seeing dead people afterwards too?

Stefan has finally gone off the wagon. (Well, I was spoiled on that long before I ever saw it.) This should be interesting.

Overall, S2 was much better than S1 although I didn't really care about all the back and forth about the curse. You need this doodad and that critter, and it's for this, no it's for that. A lot of fussing to fill airtime before they finally got around to the point.

I'd rather see more character-based drama as the focal point of S3, with the characters dealing with external threats being shoved more into the background (of course that element is not going to go away, nor should it). Stefan dealing with being "evil." Damon trying to shape the frak up. That stuff has excellent potential.

But by comparison, I get really tired of characters being noble and sacrificing their lives for their friends. When everyone is doing that, it robs them of individuality. This show has a tendency to just have Column A and Column B characters - the good, self-sacrificing ones and the bad, selfish ones. Trouble is, all the A's act alike and all the B's act alike. Damon sticks out as belonging to neither A nor B, so it's no wonder he's so popular. Now they've pushed Stefan into that gray area, that's progress.

In S3, I hope this show can develop the greater individuality of the A's, and if they insist on having B's around, just use them as foils to drive the action and then kill them in some spectacular way. And don't keep them around too long because they quickly become a bore. For instance, why is Katherine still alive?

So it looks like Alaric is the only "normal" person among the main cast now? I'd like to see him pushed into Column C with Damon and Stefan, maybe by resurrecting his vampire-hunting mode. He would be a good focus for the conflict between needing to kill the vamps who are acting up, and wanting to spare them in case they can get their shit together. Mainly I just want more screen time for Ric because I've decided that he's the hottest guy on the show. :D

Jeremy sees dead people and Stefan wasn't drinking Klaus' blood, he was just guzzling people-blood and getting addicted again. I guess all those decades on the wagon were a bad idea because it's given him a people-blood-addiction disease that other vamps don't seem bothered by.

There's no way to become a vamp-wolf hybrid; you have to be born a werewolf and then become a vampire.

Jeremy's ring apparently only works against death by supernatural means. If a werewolf or vampire or witch kills you, you're golden, but if it's a sheriff you're dead for good.

but jeremy has had both anne and caroline's blood in his systym would he come back as vampire if he was killed by a mortal?

Anna's blood was long since passed from his system, and Caroline gave blood to an already dead Jeremy.

I imagine if you were to die with vampire blood you'd come back human, but this hasn't been confirmed or anything on the show.

well either way I am so looking forward to tonight the vampire diaries are back and the secert circle premire.

Even if you're shot by the mommy of a vampire? I demand a recount! :D

Seriously, was that the first time they broached the idea that the ring only works when a supernatural person kills you? I didn't get that nuance before.

Either way, this is a good example of how the rules on this show can get into hoo-boy territory. If you have a magic ring for returning from the dead, why does it matter if you're shot by a regular human, a vampire, a werewolf or whatever? The bullet is the same bullet. If Caroline or Stefan had pulled the trigger of Liz' gun, Jeremy would have been okay? Even for magical logic, that's just dumb.

Hmmmm...this isn't totally coming together, I need to watch the Season finale again before the new episode starts tonight.

Vampire Blood stays in you for about 24 hours. If you die with it in you, you turn into a Vamp. This has been confirmed several times on the show. This is the rule for becoming a vampire on this show. Drink some Vampire blood, and die and you're a vamp.
