"historical" episodes of The Vampire Diaries?

Jeremy's ring apparently only works against death by supernatural means. If a werewolf or vampire or witch kills you, you're golden, but if it's a sheriff you're dead for good.

Even if you're shot by the mommy of a vampire? I demand a recount! :D

Seriously, was that the first time they broached the idea that the ring only works when a supernatural person kills you? I didn't get that nuance before.

Either way, this is a good example of how the rules on this show can get into hoo-boy territory. If you have a magic ring for returning from the dead, why does it matter if you're shot by a regular human, a vampire, a werewolf or whatever? The bullet is the same bullet. If Caroline or Stefan had pulled the trigger of Liz' gun, Jeremy would have been okay? Even for magical logic, that's just dumb.

No they have said the ring only protected the wearer from the supernatural from the very introduction of the rings.

I thought that was established when the rings were first introduced. Jeremy and Helena's father was wearing his ring when he died. It did not save him because he died from the crash/drowning. Therefore, the ring only saves the wearer from the supernatural. That is why it brought John back several times when he was drained of blood.

Ye, they could've gone any which way with Jeremy. Wearing the ring when he died, got Vampire Blood in him, and brought back from the Dead through Witchcraft (And remember, there was a price to be paid). So, once brought back, that might've activated the ring in some way and the Vampire blood may also have been activated in some way.

well vickie asked for help on last nighgt's episode that was interesting. and the body count is rising all ready.

Haven't seen it yet - my DVR is turning into a pileup and I have people in town for the weekend. I'll probably manage to post in the usual thread before the next episode airs. :D

Heh, yea, I didn't get to watch it last night either (Though, last night's VD is all I'm behind on). I should be watching it tonight

I'm only watching 3 shows right now (Doctor Who, ending for the year tomorrow, Terra Nova, and VD). Though I did catch a sitcom out of the corner of my eye this week, called Suburgatory. Apparently Alan Tudyk is a Gay dad and raising a Teenage girl with his partner in Suburbia (Unless I totally misinterpretted something :wtf:). Seemed kinda bizarre, I may check it out more thoroughly next week, if I find it again.
