"historical" episodes of The Vampire Diaries?

Are you still chugging along Temis? :rommie:

I cannot stress how much better season 2 is. :bolian: It really is much better, in my not so humble opinion. Season 2 erases or fixes much of what irked me in season 1. The show still has flaws but it works to address some of it holes and adds some good twists to its lore.

Where was everyone when I had my Vampire Diaries discussion threads up? :(

Hi JetFire! I just started watching the show once season 2 was over. (They were all on my DVR.)

Then I borrowed season 1 on DVD from a friend.

Now I am hooked.

We can discuss season 3 when it starts.

Oh...ok. :) I am planning on doing the S3 thread. Hopefully Temis will be caught up and join too. :D

Yes, got my most recent disc and will watch some more tonight! :bolian: Sorry I let this one fall off a bit...

I should be - I'm almost thru S1 now and I'm stockpiling S2 on my DVR. Better start watching before I max the space out entirely.

VD-Day is...Sept 15! Plenty of time to get caught up.

I'm up to the eppy where Saint Stefan finally gets a taste of human blood (somehow I knew that was coming) through appropriately blameless circumstances. This should get interesting.

The moral universe of this show continues to be pretty cockeyed, but I suppose that's out of necessity just to keep the show going, because to follow the bouncing ball of how these characters should be acting would lead inevitably to the demise of Damon, the most valuable character in terms of ratings. I know I can't expect this show to put logic before survival, so complaints are futile, but also fun, so...

Now Alairic is the offender - he abetted in breaking into a house in which the homeowner was murdered, just to save some guy who was, after all, already dead. Even if Stefan was technically alive, it's not okay to murder an innocent person to save another one, or to abet someone who does. That sort of thing lands you in jail and probably gets you executed in Texas.

Yet so far, Alairic's reaction is just to punch Damon. Instead, the lesson should be loud and clear: KILL Damon, and keep trying to kill him until you succeed. Since Alairic can't be killed, what's the hold-up to trying? This is no longer about revenge over Isobel. This is about removing a public menace from society.

Elena might get a pass being too young to parse morality and law, but Alairic is an adult and a teacher, and should really know better. It's time to end the vigilante nonsense and go to the cops.

well I am just about done with season one and loving it. I have the last four episode
to do this week end. any at least elena is'nt as bad as bella omg I am sick of her.
any idea when season 2 will be out on blu ray? all when will season 3 begin?
plan to read the books later this year.

S3 starts Sept 15.
Glad you're still finding enough to hand in there, S2 really is much better, IMHO. Elena doesn't get any less annoying, but, most everyone else does, and you get more Katherine to balance out the Elena.

Nice to see you're back with Jabba, and no longer "Waitin' for that man" :D ;)

Timothy, Amazon.com says August 30 is the S2 Release date (Generally the prior season of a TV Show is released within 2-4 weeks of the new season airing)

The eppy where Stefan goes into full-blown vampire meltdown mode at the Founder's Day party (of which I guess there will be several) was my favorite yet. No zapping at all! :D Paul Westley did a great acting job. I knew that Stefan could be a terrific character when the writers finally let him get unwound.

If I understand the logic of why Stefan is having a bigger issue of drinking human blood without going into full vamp mode than Damon, it was a very bad idea for Stefan to go without for so long. It would have been better to start robbing blood banks whenever it was that they first started being established. Poor guy, he was just trying to do the right thing but I guess there's no manual to being a vampire.

Not sure what I think about the immortality ring on yet another character (Uncle John). Those things are too conveniently a get-out-of-jail-free card. At the very least, there should be a limit on the number of times they will resurrect someone. It would be cool if the ring changed to indicate how many lives were left. :D

What the heck happened to Bonnie? Is she in some kind of witch retreat to get over the death of grandma?

I think when you finish S2...you will feel better about some stuff that happened in S1. Yeah...Bonnie just kinda was gone for a bit...but she will be back.

I honestly don't think I've missed much by zapping the teen angst stuff. I zapped the hell out of the Jeremy/Vicki/Tyler stuff but got the gist - two guys fighting over one girl, who becomes a vamp and ends up buried in the woods. It really doesn't require a lot of screen time to get that point across.

Like a lot of shows, this one has a lot of padding to reiterate plot points that people might forget one week to the next or even one month to the next, if the plot point hasn't been featured. If you're watching on DVD like I am, the padding becomes plodding and zapping improves the experience.

The rings have some very specific faults. They are not at all foolproof.

None of us can correct you on this without a lot of monster spoliers.........

If memory serves, Bonnie is off staying with an aunt. She wanted some time away after Grams died.

Let us just say that Stefan and his drinking problem will be a recurring theme.

The rings are explained. There is a how and a why. There are also loopholes. :mallory:
