I suspect many of the ancestors on his mother’s side married a human.
I love the ambiguity of that line. You can interpret it either way.Apparently going all the way back to either Arthur Conan Doyle - or a fictional character named 'Sherlock Holmes'!
I've always chosen to interpret that line as Spock trying to make himself seem more distant from his human heritage than he actually is by implication (without, of course, really telling a lie).

SPOCK: The fact one of my ancestors married a human female
Since what Spock says is:
I would suggest that half of Spock's direct ancestors on Amanda's side, the male ones, in recent generations, married or at least had chiildren with human females.
Certainly all of Amanda's male ancestors within the last few thousand years should have had children with females who were 100 percent Homo sapiens.
Unless, of course, one of those male ancestors married a female descandant of Zana:

Or possibly a female descendant of the Green Girl:

Or possibly a female descendant of the royal family of the Kingdom of Alfheimr:

Or possibly a female descendant of Merovech:

Of course some of Amanda's male Homo sapiens ancestors could have married Neanderthals or Denesovians tens or hundreds of thousands of years ago.
It's also possible that full Vulcans/Vulcanians were meant to look much more alien in the early days of TOS. Don't forget how Harry Mudd guessed that Spock was "half-Vulcanian" on sight in "Mudd's Women." It's an odd assumption to make if half-Vulcans look exactly like full Vulcans. So perhaps full Vulcans were intended to look much more like the Balok puppet.Another example: Spock saying that Balok was reminiscent of his father, but having no such observation about the Romulan commander. And again, in universe it makes perfect sense.
MUDD: You're part Vulcanian, aren't you.Don't forget how Harry Mudd guessed that Spock was "half-Vulcanian" on sight in "Mudd's Women." It's an odd assumption to make if half-Vulcans look exactly like full Vulcans.
Probably preferred by the people who want to wear them. I have worn flipflops in non beach related activities....What I never spotted there was the shoes of the two civilians. I grok shorts and miniskirts. But are flip-flop sandals like that really preferred off-duty footwear in general, or are these two on their way to the beach simulation at Rec Room 3?

After watching my first few TNG BluRay episodes, I thought of Riker's statement that "the ship cleans itself." Apparently it doesn't do a good job.
They were heading to the holo-deck that we didn't see until TAS....What I never spotted there was the shoes of the two civilians. I grok shorts and miniskirts. I also thought that's just part of Spock's sass. His dry sense of humour. Not telling a lie directly only by implication.I've always chosen to interpret that line as Spock trying to make himself seem more distant from his human heritage than he actually is by implication (without, of course, really telling a lie).
"Encounter at Farpoint"TAS is probably the only time the heroes enter a holodeck in their duty wear by choice
