Have any of the novels ever just made you mad? (

^ I didn't know about that either.

Guess there wasn't any writers bl'oq there, eh?

*groan*

Seriously, though, "Let's All Get Rich And Famous". Brilliant. My only issue, is that I fell for it.
I do love Melissa Crandall, though. "Shell Game" has to be one of my favorite Trek novels. I love the whole atmosphere of the book.

I don't know, maybe I'm just too much of an optimist for my own good, but for all the evil that we do to one another, we are capable of unbelievable acts of decency and compassion. Project Apollo, the eradication of smallpox, the Human Genome Project, the ISS, Beethoven's 5th Symphony, etc, etc, etc...[...]

"Project Apollo, the eradication of smallpox, the Human Genome Project, the ISS, Beethoven's 5th Symphony" are scientifical - and one cultural - achievements, starri.
They don't really prove anything regarding "decency and compassion"; at most, they prove humans can be creative.

About the human nature - our society reflects it best; we're neither angels, nor devils. Most humans try to make a better life for themselves and their families, not going out of their way to help strangers, nor eager to harm them.

About 'Destiny' - the point regarding the thalaron weapon is that it was a poorly used story element, riddled with inconsistencies and obtuse decisions - our 'heroes' break their morals never to use WMDs every time they fire photon torpedoes (matter-antimatter warheads); they not using thalaron weaponry only makes them hypocrites, failing to convincingly make a statement about them choosing their morals, if one is willing to think about the issue for a few seconds.

I still think the defiance Geordi showed was more about his 'robosexual' crush on Data than his morals.

Also the Human Genome Project is probably looked on about as favorably by the Federation's historians as the Manhattan Project is in Japan.

This is because the Federation is run by chauvinist arch-conservatives.

Well, you have to admit, it IS a very prov'oqative subje--

Wait a second.

(Oh, :censored:, now I'M doing it! CURSE YOU, EV'OQ-INVOKERS!!!)
