Hats???

As I said we already know what the Starfleet uniform colors are so I'm assuming they are cadets, maybe one group are officer school and the other normal service. Not sure, but I don't see why the they wouldn't be cadets as they are all hanging together.

Ever been to a military academy? My brother graduated from West Point and there was a mixture of different leadership on the grounds. Besides, we aren't seeing them "in formation", just on the set wandering about before or after shooting.

Who knows, for all we know, they are shooting an average day on the grounds and the "greys" are officers who've graduated and the "skirts" are those still in school.

OK. So far you've referred to the female cadets as "chicks" and "skirts", in a thread where you're complaining about this movie being sexist. I hope you don't expect to be taken seriously.

I was being sarcastic. It's not conveyed well in type.

Besides, when I used the word "skirt" I was referring specifically to the actual skirt. I've never called a "chick" a skirt. I'm not that old.
