Then what are emotions - to you?Not sure if you legitimately don't understand some pretty basic concepts or are just being obtuse on purpose...
No. I am not. I am a homo-sapien human being.I think he's a robot.
No. I am not. I am a homo-sapien human being.
But emotions merely are electrical impulses!
@PhaserLightShow
Well, art is still tangible. And so is the reason art is enjoyed (just electrical impulses).
@PhaserLightShow
Who is Adam? I do believe what I say. And what do you believe - concerning emotions.PLS, I do not know you from Adam, but it makes me very sad to think that you actually might believe that things like Love and Art are merely electrical impulses we "feel". For my part, I am going to hope and assume that You do not truly feel that way, and that you are conducting a Posting experiment, taking an extreme opposite position, to see if others can explain/put feelings into words.
Off topic, pretty far. This only originated from one thing a poster said. And it made a whole conversation. And it is okay, not "mkay". Thanks!Seems like we're pretty far off topic now. Let's see if we can redirect, mkay?
Thanks
How can a poster say an undergarment?from one thong a poster said
So idioms are out too?Who is Adam? I do believe what I say. And what do you believe - concerning emotions.
@PhaserLightShow
How can a poster say an undergarment?
Why not both?Hmmm...in my day, A thong was a beach footwear item.
(nods)So idioms are out too?
Again, who is Adam?So idioms are out too?
This is what I believe. I also believe that life has no single point. The only point of life is what we do with it.What I believe is that if one truly believes in reducing feelings and emotions to a series of electrical impulses, then there is no life or experience or "being". No point to existence. No reason for much of anything. And that makes the electrical impulses firing right now that simulate "sadness" in my system, to make me "feel" sad.
You can google the expression, "I don't know you from Adam", if you want.
The Force Awakens? In 1977. It came out this year!I've said this before: STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is the best film of 2013 and THE FORCE AWAKENS was the best film of 1977. It not only leans, it checklists.
You are correct. Myself and those I am debating with are covering issues best left to saints and philosophers- yet we still cover them. But you're right - this belongs in a separate thread. Perhaps I should create one in a "non-trek" area of the BBS.Seems like we're pretty far off topic now. Let's see if we can redirect, mkay?
Thanks
A name used in an idiomatic phrase.Again, who is Adam?

It was a misfired synapse.How can a poster say an undergarment?
I've said this before: STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is the best film of 2013 and THE FORCE AWAKENS was the best film of 1977. It not only leans, it checklists.
It refers to the thought that Star Wars: The Force Awakens copies the plot points of Star Wars: A New Hope so closely that it could be considered a remake. Let's try to get those creative, associative, metaphorical, and humor-interpretive thinking synapses firing on all thrusters.The Force Awakens? In 1977. It came out this year!
You wanted a VO about "cataloging gaseous anomalies", while the captain drinks out of a Starfleet regulation teacup?Hey, I prefer fast pace over slow pace, for sure. But damn, the Abrams movies are really fast. Trek XI really put the petal to the metal. We, get like a minute of an establishing of the Kelvin and a bridge scene, than Nero's ship shows up and it's just explosions right away
I think that's a weird point of view. Like saying that if there's no God then we might as well kill ourselves. Life without the supernatural is still rich and worth living.What I believe is that if one truly believes in reducing feelings and emotions to a series of electrical impulses, then there is no life or experience or "being". No point to existence.
