Happy belated birthday. As a gift to myself on the 60th anniversary of our beloved franchise, I decided to give VOY a rewatch from today from Scorpion I onward (I've already rewatched until that episode) and just came here to see if there were any Kes-related threads and found this.
I also learned recently that Lien was experienced a lot of emotional upheaval during her last season on VOY. I am so surprised bc I had no idea. But TBH I wasn't a fan of VOY during its first run -- I'm a Niner -- so it makes sense that I did not know. Is that something well-known in the Trekkies/fan community? Did she get some help and is she okay now? She was so good as Kes. Just a wonderful character and whatever she was going through, my feeling is that she poured her heart out into this character.

The knowledge that she was crashing out in real life makes her acting more impressive with Kes always acting sweet and normal.
It was not well known pubilcly at the time, it became apparant later.
She has had a troubled life, so I think it's best we just leave it at that and give her some privacy. There will be threads in the board and discussion online if you are looking to find out more, but I think it's best to leave the details be.
