Hey I forgot there are cheats to use! This would aid in my frustration. But I've also read they can mess up your save files or something? Or you can't use them in missions? What's the deal-e-o? Could I use cheats to spawn the crap I want just before initiating a mission and be fine?

I remember they prevent you from doing something, but I'm not sure what. But hey, why not use the cheats if you don't care about achievements or whatever?

Using cheat codes automatically disables Achievements. It's also not recommended to save your game after activating cheats.

It was only certain achievements though. I think the "survive 5 stars" ones. Other ones I think you could get.

Interestingly, once you enter the cheats (by dialling numbers in Niko's phone) they get stored in the memory for easy access.

I completed it without cheats but once that was done I mucked around spawning cars, helicopters etc. Of course, I bought the PS3 version so no achievements for me. I hate the bloody things, they're ruining gaming.

So cheats deactivate achievements (which I could care less about, I'm not even online) which I just saw. How exactly are they bad for a saved game? The save file will be corrupted or something?

I started playing with cheats today and it was much more fun. I can just spawn a car that actually WORKS, or better yet the attack chopper (though I had a bitch of a time maneuvering the damn thing!). Plus automatic armor/weapons. I got real sick of having to drive to the weapon shop after every mission.

^The notion that they will corrupt your saved game is a myth. There was a problem with GTAIII where cheats might cause that problem and would certainly prevent you from getting 100% completion but they do not have that effect in GTAIV.

I got 100% even though I used cheats to spawn cars for races etc.
