Will you buy Grand Theft Auto IV?

Actually, it might be more than just sleeping with Kiki (or all of them to get the bonuses). I think you have to keep them happy, i.e. take them out when they call you. I don't know if you have to get them at 100% liking you, but a lot of the characters will give you call-in bonuses -- Little Jacob gives you discount guns, Packie gives you car bombs, Carmen gives you over-the-phone health, Kiki helps you sometimes with the cops, Alex gives you discounts on clothing, Dwayne gives you two extra guys to help you out, etc.

Oh, sure. I just meant that, for most of the girls you can date, it's really easy to get access to their ability. As you point out, you then have to keep them happy in order to keep access to that ability.

Yup. It's an amusing little trailer. Although, I don't know if being a generic voiceless person is all that interesting to me anymore.

They'll get their revenge, you mark my words. Saints Row is going to get slaughtered in the next GTA game.

Oh that explains it, except for Michelle, I haven't done the dating thing at all. It was MAJORLY boring I thought and generally just a pain. Not one of the good additions to this incarnation IMHO. But on the other hand, that's a pretty good perk, so I'll probably rethink my opinion on that.

Yeah, I think they had a rivalry with another one of those open world games.... was it Getaway or something?
Either way, it'll come down to which is actually more fun to play... and, let's face it, GTA4's mission variety came down to chasing people, being chased, or shooting.
I don't know what they could have added, given that a lot of the extra things in San Andreas bugged me - flying, stealth missions, toy planes - but 20 hours of the same three types of scripted missions gets tiring after a while.
Given that Volition/THQ delayed the game by a few months to polish it, hopefully they're actually addressing some of the problems of GTA4 rather than just using the time to create trailers.

GTA went after all of the then copycat games in Vice City. There was a mission where you had to kill the members of a European syndicate who were all named after characters from Driver, The Getaway and True Crime.

The major thing GTA IV lacks is the ability to own businesses. There are also a few things I miss from San Andreas like skateboard, bicycle, parachute, jetpack, and airplanes. For the next version I want a first person camera mode when you are on foot. Also I want a huge shootout inside the police station type mission i.e. an escape from the police station scenario. Maybe a scenario like The Bank Job would be good as well. Finally the next one should take place in an European city. Hell perhaps the next GTA should have a scifi twist. I am thinking of a futuristic cyberpunk themed city i.e. Blade Runner/Deus Ex or go for the more bright and colorful like The Fifth Element.

I wish they would have created some other things to do with the money.
By the end of the game I had over a million dollars.

Let me buy a garage to keep my cars in.
Let me buy more safe houses in other areas of the city.

Let me buy SOMETHING other than clothes and hot dogs.

I don't know about you guys but I'm not a Barbie doll that has to play dress up.

That's what sent me into my rant a few days back. It's not that this isn't a great game, it is. But it gets very repetitive very quickly. (Of course one could argue that most games do).

Perhaps my frustrations with Saints Row have faded from my memory, but I honestly remember enjoying it more overall. But it's been a while and I probably have a faulty memory. I'll probably be cussing SR2 as much as GTA4 when I start playing it.

But I'll give Rock* credit where credit is due. The implementation of the taxi system was a major improvement in the gameplay. And I'll give them "half credit" for the replay system. Their heart was in the right place, they just didn't implement it very well.

Well if you're still playing this game in 2009, that's when they'll release downloadable content (actual new stuff you can do or just more drive and shoot missions?), but for the 360 only.

Gotta love this new age of gaming, where you have to pay more after you've already bought the game.

I don't expect a game like to be like Fable (where you can kill someone, take his house and sell it), but how about more buildings you can go into? How about missions where the end goal isn't to kill the other person? One mission where you go rough someone up for info, you have to kill him anyway if you don't want him to warn his friends.

I admit, I have been somewhat spoiled by Oblivion where you can pickpocket somebody, steal the key to his house and steal all his stuff to fence later.

I've been spending my money on taxi rides and snipe rifle and grenade launcher ammo.

yeah but there are places to get free ammo and amour so you don't really have to spend the money there.

I know but I'm too lazy to look for them. I know a few spots for armor and SMG ammo, but I haven't found sniper, grenade launcher, and carbine ammo yet. I've got the strategy guide that has a map with the locations, but either it's less than accurate, or I have a glitched game as more than once I've gone looking for something and it's just not there.

Exactly. I was doing one of the "assasin" missions last night where you have to chase down this "convoy" of a stretch limo and a couple of SUVs. Well after getting my butt handed to me while trying to take them on with a SMG, I finally said screw it. The next time out I headed them off and was waiting for them with a RPG. One well placed shot, mission accomplished.

Gotta love the RPG.

Did the same thing
