Goauld glowing eyes

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
Reading from another thread I just realised, has it ever been explained how a Goauld make there eyes glow the way they do? Is the symbiot doing something to the actual eye to make it glow or is there a chemical involved?

You could fanwank up some explanation that involves the symbiote interacting with the nervous system and therefore the eyes. Same as the hoohaw with the vocal chords. All those tails and tentacles pokin around where they don't belong are bound to have some effect.

Symbiote adrenaline reacting with naquadah in the host's blood creating a photoelectric effect that's most notable in the eyes.

No technobabble needed! It's just the level of evil intent rises above the nose and can be seen in the eyes. If the camera angles are low enough, it can also be viewed in the nostrils.

Having glowy eyes must be handy if you're looking for stuff in the dark. Lose your keys outside the house at night? Just think evil thoughts and presto, instant illumination. Never have to buy another flashlight again.

Not to mention you could stand outside the window at night and do a killer impersonation of Jody the pig from The Amityville Horror. You'd be the life at parties...the right kind of parties, of course.

Nah... the non-naquadah symbiotes still have the eye flash. (See "The First Ones.") I do agree it has to do with the release of adrenaline, though.

Think we can tie this in with how the Cylons' spines glow when they get excited? :techman:
