I think its interesting that a fan base not exactly known for athleticism and being body conscious feel they have the right to body shame anyone.
Have an appreciable number of people really body-shamed her?

I've seen enough instances over the years. But, no, I haven't kept an exact count. I didn't -- and don't -- think I need to.Have an appreciable number of people really body-shamed her?
So one is probably the 24th century Romulan science ship, but there's another big connectionOne thing I really love… there are two really big callbacks to previous shows, in terms of the storyline. So as a fan I was like, ‘Oh, I love this!’ They were showing me the script and I was like, ‘Oh, you are bringing that back!’… So just as a fan, I was really excited about that.
Future guy? Reman? Na'Kuhl? What my character turns out to be is huge for Star Trek.
The Burn was fascinating, whether you liked how it ended, whatever, it was a really interesting idea. And then in the fourth season, they slowed everything down and did that that kind of Star Trek The Motion Picture thing and it’s coming in and everything’s slow. And then I think they said, ‘Okay, we did the slow thing last season, so let’s go the other way this year.’ So [season 5] is pure adventure from episode 1 to 10. It’s chases and battles and there’s still all the Star Trek stuff. There’s a lot.
Sounds promising...There are a lot of crazy fun episodes. They are kind of splitting it, so they are doing the overarching story, but also within that overarching story there are are standalone episodes like Strange New Worlds.
I could see myself potentially watching season 5Sounds promising...
Everything sounds great so far.https://trekmovie.com/2024/01/22/ne...dventure-and-star-trek-callbacks-in-season-5/

In hindsight fans will look back and see that a different theme every season is great for rewatches.
She's the main character.and pushes them all the back burner immediately for MOAR BURNHAM!
My problem is how badly they botched the landings in the middle two seasons. Season 2 and 3 had absolutely horrible resolutions to an otherwise interesting premise. Season 3 especially. Knowing where the story ends up kind of crushes the rewatches for me, because I know how badly the whole thing got botched.
Season 1 was... fine, the whole season was... not good, but the end wasn't offensively bad.
Season 4 ending was ok, with my only real criticism being that DSC seemed to just embrace the meme and have the resolution be... Burnham crying at it.
I have no shame about proclaiming DSC Seasons 1 and 2 are absolute garbage. Season 3 becomes watchable and 4 was almost good. I am looking forward to Season 5, I think they've ironed out (most) of the kinks, that will be ironed out anyway.
I will say as much as DSC is my least favorite of all the Star Trek shows, I *DO* think the era of The Burn is incredibly interesting and would love to see a show set somewhere in that century, focusing on Couriers. The "Space Post Apocalypse" vibe was great, and sets the tone for a like solid "Space Western" type thing.
The single biggest issue with DSC has persisted, slightly better since S3 but still present, is that DSC does offer up quite a bit of super interesting characters and situations... and pushes them all the back burner immediately for MOAR BURNHAM!
She's the main character.
My summary of the season arcs:
Season 1: Started a bit shaky, but got genuinely good by the mid-season cliffhanger (Into the Forest I go). MU arc in Act 2 went on too long, and Lorca's heel turn was played too broadly, ruining the season for me. Then it rushed too quickly to the season finale, which was a very random conclusion to the arc.
Season 2: Started very strong, but completely crapped the bed around The Red Angel/Perpetual Infinity. The show just couldn't handle the nonsensical way they tried to square the circle once they tossed out whatever plan the fired showrunners had and retooled everything mid-season. That if ell so low made it recover a bit by the finale though, which was...fine. A bit overwrought, but fine.
Season 3: First season of the show that told a sequential story from beginning to end, and a big step up. The "cause of the burn" did end up nonsensical, but IMHO the end of the season suffered more because Osyraa wasn't that compelling of an antagonist, yet the show forced us into a last-minute confrontation regardless.
Season 4:
Good opening, good closing, but suffered from a slow middle, with slow-paced filler episodes which didn't really work to further the season arc (like that ridiculous casino planet).
Disagree on the worst. She is probably the best in terms of the character with the most growth, with Saru a close second.I understand that, but shows can adjust and move on... and she's a terrible main character. There's so many good characters in the show, but the focus on one of the worst.
Should have shifted after Season 2. The show was supposed to be about the perspective from a character who wasn't the Captain. Once she became Captain, the show should have pivoted to focus on someone else, or preferably lean more heavily into the ensemble.
S4 was definitely the best of them all, but I would agree with your general idea there. The middle part of the season was kind of a snooze, although I kind of like the casino planet. It was kind of pointless, but it was... fun, which is something Discovery sorely lacks. The show is rarely fun.

Culber sure isn't window dressing. Especially after he comes back to life.I think she has shockingly little character growth.
She acts wildly on emotion but is always vindicated and always right. She has a stiff and wooden personality... which makes an amount of sense with the Vulcan upbringing... but they don't really commit to it and it kind of waxes and wanes when convenient.
Saru, in contrast, has an amazing amount of character growth and really should be the "main character" of the series. Saru is an absolutely fantastic character.
Tilly gets kind of ruined by Season 3 with her existential crisis that kinda just goes away by S4. The bubbly, upbeat, positive thing was cool.
Stamets is generally a pretty good character.
Most everyone else is window dressing.
I think Burnham being the Authority in Season 4 instead of challenging the authority puts her in a very different juxtaposition.I think she has shockingly little character growth.
Strong disagree. Her Vulcan upbringing and burying her trauma is the source of her conflict through Season 1 and 2. It's very dynamic. And she isn't always right.I think she has shockingly little character growth.

Saru is a great character, and is under no obligation to be the main.Saru, in contrast, has an amazing amount of character growth and really should be the "main character" of the series. Saru is an absolutely fantastic character.
Nope. Detmer and Owo both get some great moments, as well as Vance who is an awesome leader and one of the best aspects of Season 3 and 4. Book, while annoying as a love interest, gets good dynamic growth. Riliak is interesting as the Federation President. Even T'Rina, despite my aversion to romance subplots, does well. Most everyone else is window dressing.
