Whatever happened to Tim Lynch? 10 minutes of Google distraction later...

The Usenet Deep Space Nine recapper who helped inspire modern TV criticism from 2018
He had trouble keeping up with putting out reviews in a timely manner towards the end, so he stopped in 2003 after ENT Season 2.

In fact, he was so backed up that he said that if he wouldn't have a review out for Nemesis by the end of the summer of 2003, it wouldn't be out at all. Then that window came and went. So that's why there's no Nemesis review of his.

Yes, it's true most of the characters were not allowed to be really detailed but I also don't subscribe to your simplistic summaries.
It's a narrative that has been massively over exaggerated by Discovery fans. TNG was really more about the casts ability to solve a problem rather than personal arcs but the Picard/Data/Worf show is shte talk in regards to the TV show (not the movies)

Specifically, in regards to Riker, I get it. They wanted to keep Jonathan Frakes in the series. I don't blame them.

To turn it around back to Discovery, I get it with Saru too, in Season 4. They wanted to keep Doug Jones in the series. It's the same reason Tilly will be back in Season 5.

It's a tough one because there was no easy way to have Burnham jump Saru in rank but also would have been suicidal to lose Saru.

Tilly on the other hand had a fine arc which they torpedoed with the first officer promotion. Once freed of that I think we saw the best Tilly.

I'm doing a rerun of the Trek shows I was not a fan of in the past, just completed Picard season 2 and 3 and now watching DISC season 1, episode 1. Not sure what my position was in the past but Burnham's advice was right (before the mutiny) and as Trek normal the Starfleet admiral was a fool.

I just found out that “Kobayashi Maru” is set to air on channel Showtime on Feb 19. Is this the first time a Trek series is playing on a premium cable network? I’m guessing they’re kicking off with S4 in prep for S5. Maybe even air new episodes after the streaming premiere like they do of their Showtime brand series?

the last time I saw a show with the word "Star" in its title was "Stargate SG-1" before it moved over to Sci-Fi (I refuse to call it Syfy). Those were the days.

Interesting.

I think SNW has pretty much usurped DISCO as the flagship Trek series at this point that execs think it’s time to wrap up the latter. I would have preferred that the final season was planned to be the final season from the start rather than after the fact, but oh well.

I’m not sure if there’s any hope in me left that quality-wise they will be able to stick the landing in their final season, but I gotta say, this promo image of Sonequa Martin-Green looks awesome!

Season 4 was excellent, so I expect great things. I expected great things in Picard season 3 and that was disappointing, so what do I know!

Not much if you were disappointed with Pic3! Just kidding!

It was not perfect, but it was damn good. Outside of SNW, I think it was the best season of new Trek. YMMV, of course.
Nothing has changed, still disappointed a year later. One day I'll watch it again but I'm in no hurry with new Trek shows coming up.

I go one step further. As great as SNW has been, Picard S3 was the best season of new Trek. I am re-watching it now. It was an epic conclusion for TNG.

The first time I watched the Finale, I was disappointed. Then I watched it again and liked it a lot better.

There were some things that bugged me a ton. Riker blaming Picard when Riker was in command REALLY BUGGED ME. It pretty much ruined an otherwise good episode "Seventeen Seconds" for me. But they kind of saved it in the next episode. Well, cleaned it up some, anyway.

I'm not going to tell you not to like like the darn thing, I mean my rating would show I thought it was good overall, I just had a lot of problems with it, some are hard to quantify that way.

I haven't sat down and counted on my fingers and toes but I think I'd rate a lot of new Trek better than season 3 including both seasons of SNW.
