Yeah. Biggest mistake made has been focusing a lot of the plots on Burnham. I still don't buy her as Captain material. And everybody defers to her, which doesn't make a lot of sense.

Have no desire to rewatch any of it. All the interesting characters have been killed off or marginalized.

Yeah, Season 4 had a real tonal issue in part because every character who had traits beyond vaguely emotionally damaged and mopey is gone.

Georgiou was great because she basically laid a turd in every room she went into, but she left late Season 3. Tilly's goofy awkwardness was absent from Season 4, first because they wrote her the same as the rest, and then because she was gone.

Stamets is pretty much the only character left who has some "edge" to him, but he's been pretty marginalized in the show, to the point that his husband Culber has more to do now.

In addition to what's already been mentioned, Fuller's original plan for Lorca was rather than being from the Mirror Universe, he was from another alternate reality, one where the Battle at the Binary Stars turned out differently and Michael Burnham was instead celebrated as a hero who prevented war as opposed condemned as a criminal who started one. It's because of this, that Lorca takes such an interest to Prime Michael and helping her redeem herself.

Fuller also planned to go to the MU almost right away. I'm not sure if this would have been good or bad, but it would have helped deal with how rushed things were in the back end of the season.

The Tardigrade was just going to be on the bridge piloting the ship, not a monster of the week. A full member of the crew.

I wonder how the writer's strike will affect the show if it goes on for more than a week or two?

The last one lasted over 3 months and fucked with a lot of television shows.

Zero impact on Discovery, considering Season 5 is in the can already, and that's all we're getting. They did announce they were doing some reshoots to have the Season 5 finale work better as a series finale, but I presume that whatever needed to be written is done now.

Season 2 of SNW, Season 4 of LDS, and Season 2 of PRO are also all in the can now.

Might impact season 5 of LDS though.

They're going to need the writers for the reshoots (they won't be able to make changes to the scripts without them).

The Screen Actors Guild--AFTRA contracts expire in June. No one wants actors and writers striking at the same time.

Who knows how long this strike is going to last? (The 2008 strike lasted three months.)

Disco has been cancelled. The show hasn't been in production for over a year.

Yeah. But when the cancellation announcement was made back in early March, didn't they begin re-writing the ending then? Assuming they did, they can film the reshoots any time they want to.

Nice episode. Book and Michael finally coming to some middle ground, only for Tarka to fuck it all up and after all that, the power source is on the other side of the wormhole anyway. Dick.

The Saru love story is a really sweet thing as well. Bryce and Reese are still in lackey mode, acting as cyphers to explore the morality of what Tarka/Book are doing... where was Grudge in all of the chaos I wonder?

Goodness knows when I'll get chance to digest the next one, but I rather enjoyed that, as late to the party as I am.

Perhaps but Doug Jones said recently that he was done with Discovery. You’d think he would be involved in the ending.
