Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

I mean, all they really have to do now is abandon Discovery in a nebula for...some reason or another.

Oh, and I guess they'd need to undo its 32nd century upgrades, though that could be handled via just re-rendering a few shots from Calypso if they really wanted visual continuity.
Reprogrammable Matter. Reprogram the matter so Discovery resembles what it did before. I'd prefer a retcon, and Star Trek -- especially these days -- isn't above retconning appearances, but that usually only happens between different series, not within the same series.

To be fair, even though it's an interior, not an exterior, I can totally see a precedent in the approximation of the Season 1 appearance of the Enterprise-D in All Good Things, with most of the modifications made for Season 2 and after were left as they were, with only a few details changed to make the set superficially resemble how it looked in Encounter at Farpoint, like bringing back the Season 1 wooden side panels and conn & ops chairs on the bridge without changing anything else (not to mention Worf's then-current make-up even in the 2364 scenes). Engineering was even left completely as it was in the later seasons, with the pool table and two of the side corridors blocked by LCARS panels.

I just watched The Galactic Barrier for the first time. There was crying, but it was between Tarka and his fishy pal.

I thought it was one of the best episodes of DSC, period. Really enjoyed it. Weird stuff at the edge of the Galaxy, where the rules of physics start to break down. Looked beautiful too.

I liked the Tarka story, Shawn Doyle is good in everything. He can turn a character on a hatpin and he's been one of the most compelling things about this season.

All in all, very, very good.

Season 4 of DSC is easily its best, IMO. So far, anyway. Looking forward to the 10-C.

We'll be relying on your stats when Season 5 starts and all the charmers come out in full force.

I have to agree. We don't know much of anything about Season 5, but I can easily see Season 4 being the pinnacle of the series. "Stormy Weather" and "But to Connect" are my favorite episodes of the season, but "The Galactic Barrier" is also quite good and, coming up next, some of the cinematography in "Rosetta" is truly majestic.

Watched the penultimate.

Reno is a really good character. I love Tig Notaro and she's given good material here. I know COVID kept her out of the season, I just wish it hadn't and she just lifts any scene that she's in.

The 10-C are so fucking other. I sort of wish the Tarka subplot was done and dusted so the episode could just get on with the diplomacy side of things, but drama so OK.

Good episode. Really good season.

I was thinking early how off the wall it is to give the romantic subplot to Saru. It's really worked out. Doug Jones is a legend.

One more and I'm caught up.

Oh, and nobody cried.

Finally caught up with DSC and finished season 4.

Easily, easily the best run of the show for me. Can't fault it.

More thoughts later, but gosh, yes, I loved that.

Everything I didn't get from PIC S03, I got from DSC S04.

(Plus, everything I didn't get from DSC S04 I got from PIC S03. So there's that.)

I'd love another Short Treks season. Just have Micheal Chabon write the sequel.
If Star Trek: Discovery has to end, in a dream world, I'd have it replaced with Star Trek: Calypso. Nothing against what we have right now, but The Future in "Calypso" sparked my imagination. I'm still hoping somehow, some way, we find our way back there, even if it's not during Discovery's run.

Watched S04e11. Not as strong as 10, but still very good. Nice to see Reno back and goodness me, she’s a hostage.

No crying, every other scene or otherwise.

So I don’t come on here because I’m still on season 3 but I was happy to see this by accident. Reno is a GREAT character. But I wanted her to be in it more!

Just wanted to add- finally finished season 4. It was, I think, my favorite season of Discovery. Really the whole thing is well done from start to finish.

Very creative and fresh and getting the most out of the set up from the previous season. All the characters have nice arcs. Discovery is also doing a lot to repair my long term disdain of Starfleet admirals with their awesome Admirals

Really loved the language/diplomatic part and the resolution was full and grand enough (which was my only complaint with something season 3 didn’t achieve as well).

Also, Reno is in my personal hall of fame list of favorite Star Trek characters now.

Chances we'll get there in season 5 is pretty low right? Calypso was pretty much written with no plan in mind it seems like.
