Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

OK they were members, but surely Cardassian ships had their own design aesthetic which would include their own designs on things like black boxes or avionics.

By this point in the future you'd think transporter blocking technology would be a done deal, would not be hard to implement and come with its own IFF system so that only authorized transports happen, the kind of thing I was thinking of any non authorized transports would either be blocked or sent into the void depending on threat level.

This whole thing with the transporters just shits me off that they never ever fixed it even in the future.

I'd have thought transporter-blocking measures would have more-or-less kept pace with transporter technology since transporters were first developed.

Transporters are insanely dangerous things when you think about it - if you drop your guard for an instant someone could beam a hole in your warp core or antimatter pods, beam out the bridge crew, you name it. I'd have thought ships would need transporter-countermeasures running constantly.

Also docking ports. The ship has airlocks and docking ports come on Vance you idiot use them. Couple of shuttles with the best troops go shoot those fuckers

I'm glad the Federation has shrunk. Everyone joining it makes it sound like they were getting a monopoly on the Galaxy. Or at least the Quadrant. I can't figure out what it is, but something about that feels wrong.

I'm with you on this. I've never really bought into the idea that everyone from the Klingons to the Ferengi would eventually want to become part of the Federation. It just not realistic that all these cultures would willingly give up their sovereignty and allow their territories to be absorbed instead of building and expanding themselves.

One thing that I wish had been done with the Dominion was to have them depicted not as moustache twirling imperialistic expansionists but a relatively peaceful/neutral organisation that just didn't like the Federation constantly encroaching on what they considered their future territories. Perhaps as a response the Dominion would have begun aiding Bajor as well and eventually resulting in negotiations for membership. It would have been interesting to see the Federation try and deal with a peaceful culture that is hampering their own expansionist ideals.

Reminds me a bit of the Organians but with less god like powers.

I am hoping that part of the rebuilding of the Federation means finding new powers that may be content with the status quo and push a little at asking to be a part of the Federation.

I couldn't possibly do that now. To me, the whole season is like one big ass episode until I watch each of them a couple more times (which I haven't done yet, I've limited myself to one viewing) it'll remain that way.

I'd agree with your top three, then add the finale. I'd call those the good ones this season.
