General Computer Thread

Personally I would not try to replace the battery, that thing is really old and its Android version obsolete.
Also, it being a tablet could mean the battery is glued into place which makes replacing the damn thing complicated and expensive.

Indeed. It might damage it even further. I used to have a 7 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 which doubled as a phone but that thing was neat to open and the battery was actually replaceable despite the warning not to do that in the manual, but a decent replacement cost about half the price I payed for the tablet / phone. It also stopped being a phone when I damaged the sim socket by accident

Well, this is kind of odd. I normally use Safari as my main browser and was on the board earlier, but atm it doesn't seem to want to load TBBS. Other pages are loading fine and I can access the board in Chrome, but I'm not clear on why Safari won't load it. Usually that means there's something on the site's end.

ETA: seems better now, but when it finally loaded it was slower and wonkier. I've never seen that happen on Safari and no other page has had similar problems.

Any recent updates to Safari? I've occasional had issues with browsers over the years when ever a update had occurred. Though most of the time it is a plugin / add-on / extension that is to blame.

It seemed be something with TBBS, as I had similar issues with Chrome and on my phone before it was normal. Seems to have just been a loading issue on the site's end, since as mentioned all other sites were working fine. I normally clear my caches when I finish for the day, so I figured it wasn't a cache issue.

I updated my copy of MalwareBytes to the most recent version, and now I'm debating whether the premium version is worth paying for. I've always liked the free version and it seems like there are a few nice touches to the newest model. Any thoughts? :)

Biggest thing with the premium version is the real time scanning. Better to catch them before they hit your system.

Of course the false positives from genuine software can be a pain because you then have to release the file from quaratine before you can install it.

Yeah, I've heard of that potential issue, but I haven't really seen it so far. Was reading a review article that mentioned it, in the context of the software flagging stuff (understandably) that the author had coded himself.

There are a few games on steam that seem to trigger AV software which seems odd unless they are doing funny things with memory

I have another oddball question. Was looking through some images on my hard drive and I might be wrong, but it's seemed to me like the resolution is slightly.... off of what it should be. At least when I look at the image at full size. Kind of like a bit of compression going on. If so, is there a way to fix this?

Guess that can be a resolution thing, you need to check if your screen and the picture have the same resolution and if your display program doesn't try to compansate by stretching the image or fit to screen it or something similar.

Further to this right, right click on the file and look at it's properties to check the resolution.

Could also be if the file has been editted for resolution, the horitzonal:vertical ration might not have been kept correct.

I use Paint when I have to do a quick resize and make sure I always check the option to keep the ratio correct.

Oh I know but Jayz was a pretty good video. I like how Intel is behind part of this push to "provide a solution" more like screw over its competitors by being involved here.

They talked about it on Windows Weekly. Like a lot of things, mountains are being made of mole hills over something that has been in the works for a while.

Hey question about drivers, when I connected a wireless keyboard and mouse to my computer it installed new drivers, but when I replaced my corded keyboard and mouse it went back to the other ones but are the wireless ones still running in the background, or do they stop when you switch over?
