Gears of War has finally won me over!

I got this game when it first came out and HATED IT! It seemed like it took forever to do anything, I hated the controls and I hated the fact I would die quickly. I traded it in.

Well last night I saw it on the used shelf and decided to give it a try. I love it now! I dont know what it is, but for some reason it seems easier to play and I am advancing through the levels unlike the first time where I barely got through the first level.

When I get paid next week I plan to pick up GOW2. I'm hoping it is just as good.

Both damn fine games. I own the first one, and borrowed the second one off a mate for a few days. Plan on picking it up soon, with the price having dropped at most places.

One of the games I didn't mind Double dipping on.
I bought the regular edition of the first game and like it so much bought the special edition used a few months later.

I liked it so much I made sure to buy the special edition on the second game.

Both are great games.

It's the most pure macho game ever devised.. no beat em up or otherwise action oriented movie comes close.

Big hulking men with huge guns, deep grating voices with a "don't fuck with me" attitude.. Schwarzenegger wished he was this hardcore!

Best thing though.. i love playing it when a girlfriend of mine watches. She's easily scared and gets excited.. "Nooo.. don't go there! Quick.. roll out of the way!! Shoot him!! Shoot him!!!"

You know what, I'm at the exact place you are. I don't really like buying games that have so much hype about them because I end up not liking them and very disappointed (GTA4 case and point). When I saw Gears of War for the first time (with the advert using Mad World from Donnie Darko) I was interested, and then I played it around my friends house and found it not as interesting as I thought it would be.

Two days ago I played Gears of War 2 with my friend and I couldn't stop asking questions about the first game "What's this war they keep talking about, who is the narrator, why does Carmine have to die?" But it was these questions that got me wanting to play Gears 1, which I did and I loved every second of it, and now I'm playing through Gears 2 and every level I keep asking myself: "How... How can you top a level like that?" and then they do it!!!

GOW amazing game. Amazing story, Amazing graphics. Loved it.

Totally agreed about the 'roid filled characters. I've never felt so bad ass before playing a video game. LOL
