It's the one argument I've never comprehended. To be married in the eyes of the law, all two people have to do is go to a minister, justice of the peace, what have you, and get the marriage license signed. At that point, they're legally married. Hell, before my wife and I got married, we and our pastor signed the license -- and even he said, "You know, you're legally married, you can always just get out of here and avoid this whole shindig." Why should a religious objection have any say in the legal standing?
Come back to me when gay people start banging down the doors of southern Baptist churches, demanding that the priests marry them.
