Whatever happened on set aside, think about society of the 90s and not today. Garrett's complaints were ahead of his time. In those days no one was shoving "feedback forms" in your face wanting your input. You had to be of a certain status to give it.
You got to complain when you were higher rank, pun intended and even they were turned away most of the time. He was a new actor and they didn't want a green's opinion. especially one who thought he knew Star Trek "better". I appreciate that he stood up for the quality of the show but, but I guess it wasn't welcomed. It makes for a dramatic convention show after the series is gone but not professional.
His costume for an example. I thought he was a very important person in that holodeck episode with the Hirogin but he can't appreciate it. Kim kept his cool, got the Doctor to orchestrate a rescue plan and held off the guard. He didn't cower away in hopelessness. I thought that was important to get me the hell out of there if i were in the crew's position. I get it, he wanted to wear fun clothes have fun dialog and be on the back lot. But honestly you're on the SHIP. the scifi show you wanted. I guess I expect gratitude because if you want to have range go do theater on the side. Build your resume. Get the 'better' parts through work and growth.
Short comings aside, I appreciate Wang's warmth, appreciation for Sci-fi and his fans.
