Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

It looks...fine.

I just can't muster much interest in it, despite my undying love for Matt Smith (even if I think he's miscast in his role). I'll probably still watch it (not strictly a hate watch per se) but I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy. I'll give it some time win me over but my faith in it is pretty limited.
 
^ Yeah, looking back on S1, the most interesting parts were the characters trying not to go to war with each other (though what any of them would gain from a war, apart from merely being the person/sub-family at the top, was never particularly well defined*). Since they were pretty much all rotten, terrible people, them actually being at war doesn't seem very promising, drama-wise.

The idea that the kingdom would rebel and reject a reigning Queen Rhaenyra was an interesting one, but, after the first few episodes, it was pretty much dropped, especially when she married and started having sons.

* Well, there was the recurring idea that one monarch/sub-family would murder everyone on the other side, but that was undercut by decisions like Rhaenyra and Daemon leaving King's Landing, even supposedly for a few days, despite seeing for themselves that Viserys was liable to die at any moment. And that's even if Alicent didn't put a pillow over his face!
 
I was quite disappointed in season 1. The time jumps and character changes in terms of age/recasting made the entire season feel so disjointed.

The show isn't as interesting as GoT and storylines like that crabfeeder were so boring. I would of preferred the 1st season to have been soley set with the original cast and the adult versions to come in season 2.
 
I can 't wait for season 2 to start. Looking forward to seeing the Starks and the Tullys. I also read somewhere that the Freys are very different in this era because of their leaders during the Dance of the Dragon. i can't wait to watch.

And to me the location and set work in general belies the general idea of the series that it's supposed to be more grand than what was seen in GoT, given that they're technically supposed to have more money as a kingdom. To me it doesn't feel grand at all; it feels cheap and lacking in atmosphere, given how darkly lit everything else is. I didn't get much of a sense of place.

Okay, I love those visuals far, far more than the first season's. The sequence is now visually engaging and tells a cohesive story, as oppose to "let's tediously follow fake blood everywhere and pretend it's a metaphor" that the first season always felt like. Following threads in the creation of vast tapestries is such a lovely and natural idea that I really wish they had gone with that cosmetic the first time around.

That said, I still wish they created original music for the show instead of just using the Game of Thrones main titles, which feels lazy and uninspired.
 
I don't get why they had to ask the mother which one is the son. Can't they just use Goku's patented gender check method on them?

The blood was literally the family tree - or the bloodline - of the Targaryens, and the points that it connected and split were marriages and births etc

Whereas the current one seems to be more Targaryen Bayeux Tapestry.

Or at the very least, a variation on it to signify a different era. If the show, for instance is supposed to be set in a grander, richer era of the Kingdom, then I feel this could be reflected in its version of the theme.

Yeah, you're right. I had forgotten it was family tree. But that also shows (at least for me) how memorable and boring that sequence felt. Neat idea but poorly executed.

Yeah, I wouldn't have minded a major variation on the theme. Instead, it's note-by-note exactly the same, which is very disappointing.

Yeah, that's a lovely arrangement of the theme. Something like that for this show would've been good.
