They should've kept the shorter opening, that new sequence is unexpectedly clumsy and rushed.

GoT's intro showed off the locations our primary characters were situated. While House of the Dragon's intro is related to the characters (the different families and intersecting bloodlines), it doesn't have nearly the same impact. There's nothing distinct; it was just a raft ride on a river of blood.

But the original theme is iconic. So I figured that's why they kept it. I wish I knew what I was looking at with the digital blood going around the model and emblems.
Liked this second episode. Started slow, but it picked up. Rhaenyra had several strong moments, especially confronting Daemon. Her character starts to grow on me, and I'm guessing this effect on the audience is necessary for the show to survive.

The second episode fortunately managed to create a bit more interest as it continues to set up the coming civil war in a GoT proof way - some stupid decisions by those in power, some good decisions by main characters we are supposed to like and some good scenery.
Rhaenyra is getting to be interesting - she has a decisiveness her father, the king, absolutely lacks and it pays off ( this time). Caution is a good trait for a ruler but there are times when you have to act and Viserys fails miserably at that and on top of it he chooses rather his heart than what actually must be done and believes a simple "I am your king!" is enough to keep someone as powerful as Lord Velaryon in line ( i will admit i had to look up the names on IMDB
). We all know from Tywin Lannister that someone who has to say I am the King is no true king
The show still lacks some true breakout characters with memorable lines such as "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." or " Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you!" - quotes that instantly tells you something about the character and burns into your mind.
Not too fond of the intro sequence - everybody and their mother knows this is a prequel to GoT yet they chose that theme and the same intro style. Laziness or cost saving? I'm a bit disappointed - Ramin Djawadi surely can knock out some new and iconic main theme.

The show couldn't be a true prequel without a super gross relationship in the center.
I'm super disappointed by the intro. Just the same music and a boring visual that's hard to follow its point. Yes, bloodlines and all but the execution is subpar, especially comparison to the Westeros map high standard.

Some people might just have enough of it after eight years of it (plus two more for those that also watch Witcher)So in other words , Game of Thrones.
I actually liked the second episode quite a bit better than the first one, the only thing I didn't like was that it had the same intro music as Got, I'd prefer a new song.
The second episode seemed to steer more towards GoT's King's Landing plot ca. Season 2-4, which was my favourite part of that show. Though Mysaria reminded me a bit too much of Shae.
I think the opening credits should have been better paced. I think someone had rushed the presentation of the cast's names, forcing the theme song to skip a few times. But I'm glad they kept the same theme song, because I suspect no one would have been able to top it. On the other hand, I enjoyed the second episode of the series. I especially enjoyed Steve Toussaint's performance as Lord Corlys Velaryon and Milly Alcock's as Rhaenyra Targaryen.
I was getting a different personality vibe from Mysaria, in compared to Shae.
I didn't know how I would feel about once again hearing the theme song of a series that I feel massively betrayed by, but decided to seek out and view part of the HotD credits sequence in order to find out, and the verdict is that it might take some time to get used to, but should be fine .
And if it's not, I can always use my remote to skip the intro when I eventually watch the series at the conclusion of Season 1.

Jumping 6 months forward and just suddenly having Raeghar in Dragonstone with a load of city watch was a weird one but other than that it was really good.

Both. Rhaenyra has sapphic feelings Alicent. In episode 1 she said that her dream was to travel the world on the back of her dragon, with Alicent by her side. She said while laying her head in Alicent's lap.
Learning your childhood friend is marrying someone else, and that someone being your dad, your dad who is primarily interested in making male heirs to replace you in the line of succession to the throne. Is double betrayal. Triple betrayal because Alicent never revealed to her best friend that this was her intention ever since Rhaenyra's mother died.
Best friends can talk about everything, but Alicent hid this. We all know why. Otto Hightower channeling his inner Tywin Lannister. Trading his daughter to win the king's favor.
And this is why i don't believe Alicent intended to do this, she was ordered to by her father but she was also intelligent enough to know she couldn't oppose her father's orders and she also knew it would significantly improve her family's standing if she married Viserys and "produced" male heirs for him ( god how i hated that phrase in the episode and in general but women in that environment were mostly breeders for the powerful, sad to say).
She may regret doing this to Rhaenyra but she also knows the payoff is much bigger than losing a friend, even a close one.
