Reusing the Game of Thrones theme song is just emblematic of the entire project: Plots, characters, and themes that are just recycled versions of what was done before, borne out of a desire to flog a dead horse instead of doing something new.

Sir, this is a Star Trek forum. If any group of people are going to have a ridiculously high tolerance for dead horse flogging, it's Trekkies.
Not really.Plots, characters, and themes that are just recycled versions of what was done before
The one I was really expecting to hear repeated, particularly in light of the show's character focus, is "Every time a new Targaryen is born, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land." With the possible exception of Daemon, all the Targs we've seen so far are relatively stable. And even Daemon isn't completely batshit crazy, either, like Aerys (the "Mad King") was. He's methodical, plotting, highly intelligent and dangerous. No real wackadoodle going on like I would have expected. The show still lacks some true breakout characters with memorable lines such as "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." or " Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you!" - quotes that instantly tells you something about the character and burns into your mind.
... improve her family's standing if she married Viserys and "produced" male heirs for him ( god how i hated that phrase in the episode and in general but women in that environment were mostly breeders for the powerful, sad to say).

One annoying thing about having a show about the Targaryens is the names and looks are so alike.Just to note, the actor who plays Rhaenyra (Emma D’arcy) is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns for future reference when referring to the actor directly.
Also, that’s not who is playing the character at the moment (Milly Alcock).Just to note, the actor who plays Rhaenyra (Emma D’arcy) is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns for future reference when referring to the actor directly.
