Galia stars in season 5 of Alias...plus, a question.

Yep, Rachael Nichols is a star of the show in season five! I picked it up on a whim during a sale, and loved it! Then I got the first two seasons, and while incredibly entertaining, I found that I actually liked 5 better.
Question: What season(s) are YOUR favourites?

Season One: perfection. Season Two: almost as good. Season Three: lame. Season Four: first half even lamer, second half pretty good. Season Five: pretty uninteresting.

Is this perhaps based on what we've respectively seen originally, and expect of the ones to follow? If I saw season one first, would I have the same opinion that you stated?

Season One of Alias was a tightly plotted story with fascinating mysteries and great action scenes. It was as exciting as LOST. Then network interference took all that away. They didn't want the show to be so continuity-heavy and made it nothing but stand-alones.

Everything up to and including the take-down of SD-6 in the middle of season two was amazing.

After that it all went downhill. In part because for Sydney to be true to herself, she should have immediately ceased being a spy when SD-6 was disbanded.

"Oh woe is me, I am a spy and everyone including my father and mother lie to me all the time!"

Well duh, quit being a spy then, your character as written isn't particularly attached to the job.

Seasons one and two were awesome (with S1 being the better of the two). Seasons three and four weren't nearly as good, but I still enjoyed them. Season five was a definite improvement over S3/4, it wasn't as good as S1/2 though.. Adding Rachel to the cast was a great idea. ;)

I find my enjoyment of the show correlated very tightly with the hotness of the outfit they made Jennifer Garner wear each week.

The plot was largely nonsense, but it was less nonsensical in the first year...

The first two seasons were rock-solid. No complaints. Season 3 wasn't quite as good and there were story threads and plot points that appeared and then were either poorly explained or swept under the rug entirely. Season four was pretty awful. They tried to do more stand-alone episodes with some serialized bits hanging around in the background until they haphazardly tried to bring it all together in the end. This was definitely the show's worst season. Season five was a nice improvement but still never brought the show back up to the quality of the early seasons.

I thought this show was okay... I watched a few eps of seasons one and two and then watched all of seasons three and four, and missed most of five (save for an ep here and there and the finale). I never could get really, really into--I don't know if that was Garner or the stories or what, but it never truly grabbed me.
