Well, that kinda blows. FOX sure went out of their way last week to make it LOOK like Liv made it back in this ep.

Nothing like dangling a carrot in front of our noses.

I just knew it was too much to hope that ep 7 would break the weak odd episode pattern the show has been experiencing all season. And what makes it worse is last week's episode was sooooooooo good that this looks even more pedestrian than it would have anyways.

Fringe simply can't craft a fresh original wholly interesting standalong plot. This held no suspense. The story itself was boring--a doctor-turned-church leader extracts "youth" from kids. More stale action when Olivia goes to the suspect's apt and they have a chase--I think I've seen that a thousand times by now. Oh but wait then we have the predictable double twist that there really was someone else involved so off we go to pad out the hour and stall advancing the arc by tacking on a *second* "tense" confrontation with the real mastermind. Yawn! We couldn't actually get the more interesting thread involving her attempt to get home by infiltrating DoD--no why do a silly thing like that.

I could have cared less about alt Broyles and his kid--I have to imagine the writers could have come up with a more interesting way to make Broyles decide to protect Olivia when the time comes. Alt Charlie is still an annoyance and the burnt guy is so non-existent I forgot his name--they should actually ship him off to Texas with Olivia's plot device doctor boyfriend.

I'll be generous and say Average--it isn't awful but just boring. With this crap I could care less if the show is renewed or canned. Give us more "The BOx", "Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep" and last week's episode and I would care.

I voted 'Average'. It wasn't a bad ep, but it was nowhere near the level of last week. Plus, it was a bit of a cheat to hype this as Liv going home, only to have it not happen, plus having to wait two weeks to see the real event.

This just felt a bit like a filler-ep to me.

Whenever a show involves crimes against kids, it's disturbing.

Good episode tonight although the fakeout with Olivia did annoy me a little.

Good bit of alternate movie history...Ronald Reagan did indeed test for Casablanca. I think the footage is on the Casablanca DVD.

Here it is Sam on Page 69, for December 2:

Olivia makes another attempt to escape the alternate universe and someone is going to pay big-time for helping her.

Weird, it actually DOES sound like a description of tonight's ep.

Charlie is gonna die again. :p

I've been following this since the season began and it's actually quite good. I did like how the alt-Broyles managed to really be taken aback by the debt of gratitude that he has for Olivia. It was kind of sad that Olivia got nabbed right at the last minute.

It really is a great t.v. show.

That's why I never pay much attention to promos. Too often they over hype or mislead or both.

Good episode just not as good as last week's. I hope this week's episode makes it back over 5 million total viewers.

That smirk on Walternate's face when Olivia was captured made me want to kick his ass big time.

That's not the show's fault; that's FOX marketing's responsibility.

That's exactly what I'm thinking too.

^ Actually, I'm thinking it would be the one person she made a real connection with.

Here's a scene from the next Fringe (after Thanksgiving).

I think if FOX gave Dollhouse a second season in the Friday timeslot, then Fringe will likely get a fourth (and also likely final, abbreviated) season.

Great episode. I guess I liked it more than others.
I loved it too! The interaction between the characters is what hooked me, and what has kept me interested. And now to see the characters in the AU fleshed out, and Broyles' inner conflict about Olivia...really compelling for me.

I figured it would be Henry or Broyles. And now, after seeing that sneak peek... Wow. I'm there.

I was wondering how Peter would find out. Turns out to be the worst possible way, while he's being all snuggly with her -- which of course is the best way. :mallory: Will he stay cool until he has AltLivia trapped, or just turn and strangle her with his bare hands? :p

I was also trying to figure out how Olivia would stay here if she succeeded in crossing over again. She's been jerked back both times, so it's not clear if she has some kind of plan for "anchoring" herself here or something, to keep from returning. Might be a moot point now that the Peter cavalry is on the way. :)

Extremely cruel of them to make us wait two weeks for what happens next.

^ If Fox aired it on Thanksgiving, the internet nerds would just say they're trying to kill Fringe by deliberately giving it a 0.0005 Thanksgiving rating. :p
