Yeah I don't remember, why are there worms in Charlie?

And they still haven't explained the relationship of the Observers to the Alt-World right? Because they're clearly not from there.

In season 1, a man-made chimera was going on a rampage, and in some instances would inject its larvae into people to use as hosts, including Charlie. The larvae would eat their way out of the host and thus kill them, but they were able to save Charlie in time. For some reason, Scarlie has the worm too.

Excellent premier, it had my attention the whole time.

Count me as another person who would like to see it take Lone Star's time slot after House. Fringe did well there before.

In the background as a pedestrian when Olivia goes to Massive Dynamic and finds out its location a park.

So someone mentioned this weeks photo's spelled out "Amber" I know there was some sort of Amber task force/ Amber alert that Olivia passed by

Really enjoyed the episode. Fauxlivia may be a better shot than Olivia, but I'll bet her kill count isn't as high. When Olivia had the gun on burned-up-dude I was thinking, if you knew what I knew, you'd do what she tells you. Olivia has killed 40 or 50 people since the show started.

Not sure I'm liking the whole Peter/Olivia ship that is developing. They don't seem suited for each other.

I still think of the show as a very well done X-Files rip off. Looking forward to next Thursday.

They changed the sciences from the last red intro. I wonder if that's supposed to mean anything or if they just wanted stuff that sounded cooler:

Maybe Walternate released some of that tech into the mainstream? Thus the need for new "Fringe" technologies.

ETA: I voted "Above Average." I am curious where they take the character, but I don't know if I like it yet. Poor Peter, he's in another universe without his Olivia. Let's see how long it takes for him to realize it.

I thought it was the best portrayal of an alt universe done on tv. It fried everything Sliders tried to do by remaining logical and mixing in the little details. The "DOGS!" sign on the cab, the zeps, the "Show Me" cards, etc added so much to the overall believability of the "red" universe. And the original choice to leave the Towers in...priceless.

Agreed. Keep it platonic.

Ehh.....early/midway through Season 1 I would have agreed. The unexplained event of the week, the light character arcs, the more or less self-contained episodes.......all pretty familiar territory.

However, as the show has become more and more serial (much like Lost) and all the events are revealed as connected, since midway through season 2, it's becoming more and more like a Lost-type show with only some very general similarities to the X-Files that both shows share in common with many shows as well.

The X-Files is all about "The truth is out there" with 1 doubter and 1 believer and the struggle between the two. Fringe's "truth" is out there is never in question, really, and those events are really just symptoms of an underlying and much larger story that is just now being told......the struggle between two realities to survive.

Wasn't this relationship obvious from the outset?

I don't think so......I don't ever see someone like Olivia falling for someone like Peter. Besides, it's because those type of pairings are generally so obvious on most shows that I'd be opposed to them in the first place.

Someone like Olivia wouldn't fall for someone like Peter? To me, it's the other way around. From the beginning Peter's motivation has been love for Olivia, instead of a desire to form a relationship with his father. And when Peter goes home to his Earth, he leaves for love of Olivia instead of even talking to his mother! The idolization of Olivia is the Achilles' heel of this show, it's as close to Mary Sue as professional television writers can get.
