Forced Relationships

That would be a ridiculous "law" to have. The Federation has no right to tell anyone who can or can't get married.

The Federation has ruled that you can't change your own genome, why should this law be any different? If they don't want any dangerous augmented people running around, they have every right to prevent it from happening. Else why were Sarina, Jack and the other Augments locked away in a institution? For being good?

Which novel was it? I'm either behind (true) or can't remember shit (also true).

Send Sarina awaaaaaaaaaay... let her grow, develop, have other relationships and then bring her back to Julian :techman:

It was creepy as on screen but I did love how it showed how Julian Bashir was not immune to some of the obsessive thought spirals his fellow augments suffered from. And I don't think there's any reason they couldn't get together in the decently in the future future.

They could get together in the future, weather or not they both can have kids is another question.

If Klingons and Humans and Vulcans can all breed and have kids it's highly doubtful any problems caused by augmentation can't be overcome.

Garak and Bashir relationship seemed very natural, Bashir and O'Brien definely should have been having casual bro sex from time to time.

:)

Odo/Kira I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP! AND I WON'T PUT MY HANDS UP AND SURRENDER! *sings*

I thought Odo/Arissa was a little forced, but I LOVED seeing Kira acting jealous! I also seem to recall in the naked in bed scene where Odo and Arissa talks, he asks her if she could "tell" it was his first time with a humanoid. She said no, and he was all "good!" and they macked some more.

Odo/Kira worked for me because I really identify with Odo. He is my favorite Trek char. I know how it feels to be the outcast and marginalized and to believe no one could ever love me for who I am, and for him to GET the woman of his dreams made ME a happy fan. It made me realize even a weirdo like ME might someday find that special, right person.

I also really like how they waited until so late in the series to do it, or else seeing their onscreen romance would have gotten stale or fallen to the wayside, or one of them probably would have been killed off. (Which would have SUCKED.)

when they were in bed I always wondered why Odo had nipples

I thought the biggest forced relationship in DS9 was Bashir/Ezri.

The other relationships seemed to evolve naturally whereas it seemed like Bashir was only interested in Ezri because he wanted a vicarious second chance with Jadzia and that was never really addressed, and it seemed rushed at the end.

O'Brien and Keiko made sense to me. It wasn't a fairy tale 'star crossed lovers' romance, it was a more realistic marriage which has its ups and downs and requires hard work and sacrifice.

I disagree that his behavior toward Sarina was due to his augmentation. It was due to his self-romanticizing, one thing about Julian that never had anything to do with this twist. That's a character flaw of his he had from the beginning.

I had a lot of problems with the Bashir/Sarina romance. It was a clear violation of medical ethics for him to be involved with the patient. It seemed out of character to me that he was so blinded by love he didn't realize it. He can't be that stupid.

Oh I agree there, I was thinking that his obsessive spirals were similar to the Jack pack. Remember how he got sucked into their conspiracies?

He's probably seen men topless enough times to know those go there. Rene did have to shave all the hair off his upper body for that topless scene in A Simple Investigation.

Interestingly, when he shows up naked in Broken Link, he had hair on his arms and likely has chest fuzz too, but it's very light in color and hard to see.

Well, he was turned into a human. So I wouldn't call that an inconsistency... I mean hey, the Female Founder hadn't slept with him yet, so how should she know how he looks down there? ;)

^LOL, I'm just comparing. As a human he had body hare, as a Changeling he didn't. It's not an inconsistency, just an interesting detail to note.

Sometimes, I DO wonder what goes on in the bedroom with Kira. It must be fun XD Odo doesn't have to wait for things to stand up again, and he doesn't have muscles that will cramp or get tired before she's done!

There's a certain amount of curiosity there about how much he uses his shapeshifting in certain aspects of that with Kira. ;)

Lol, in my headcanon she makes him lose control of his sense of touch. Like she could make him, um, have a happy ending with a good deep kiss or a nice massage. ^^; Now THAT is lucky. She could lick cookie dough off his finger and he'd feel something most guys have to take their pants off to enjoy. (Oh God I hope that's PG13 enough without going further.) She could have FUN with that.

Wow, is that in one of your fanfics? :p

I think the fact that there has been very little mention of Ben and Cassidy shows that that was a pretty good relationship. No argumeng there!

I love Worf and Jadzia together. I think they did a good job of building it up in season 4 so it didn't come out of left field like some of the pair ups. I feel very strongly that if that whole Risa mess never happened, more people would be on board with them. That was just nonsense. I also think that because I was not an orginal Niner (I started watching in season 3 when TNG ended) I wasn't invested in seeing Jadzia and Julian together the way those who'd watched from season 1 were. Worf and Jadzia really hit their stride in season 6.

I was never a fan of Odo and Kira being together. To me, they seemed very forced. I thought the unrequited love he had for her would have been more powerful had it stayed that way. Kira all of a sudden having feelings for Odo seemed less believable than Leeta liking Rom.

When I first saw it I didn't think Julian and Ezri were creepy, but in retrospect I see it. She was like his consolation prize.

My biggest complaint of Kassidy and Sisko is the Maquis spy bit. Kassidy betrayed him every bit as much as Eddington. She even used her relationship with him to get clearance to leave so she could smuggle them supplies. Yet this was never touched upon. She gets out in a few months(what?!) and they just go back to normal.
