For those of us who aren't reading the novels...

Well, IMHO, JoeZhang's comments say a lot more about JoeZhang (and his ilk) than they do the people he is trying to dis. ;)
Yeah, that he keeps both feet on the ground and things in proper perspective.:bolian:

Perspective is just that, one person's point of view. There cannot be proper perspective only your interpretation of it and just because one perceives someone has their feet on the ground doesn't mean it's necessarily true.

Brit
So you're saying someone that cracks open a book and takes the steps to further educate themself about business economy is no better than one that has opinion without any education of the matter at all?

We sit here and villianize Berman, Braga & Paramount about their choice made involving fiction that will never advance us, our careers or education . While at the same time many refuse to pick up a real educational book and study business economy, something that affects each & everyone of our lives, to have an understanding of why men in their position do make those choices all the while expanding our own intelligence & education. What JoeZhang is saying is people are once again making gross personal statements not based on any educational fact, the same statement I might add Brent Spiner made about what fans say about B&B too. What's worse is others are following behind it without educating themselves if it factual either. So yes, I guess they should be insulted & ashamed of not making any effort to further their own education by their own will.(and that applies to all of us)

Sorry but I think I'm going to back the one with a prespective based on actual educational knowledge over one refuses to educate themselves at all.

And I am going back to actual experience. Even the "educated" point of view changes so often that college text books are not necessarily the same from semester to semester. Education has to be coupled with experience and again it's a point of view that is really not everyone else's.

What I am saying is point of view is shaped by experience or the lack of experience. Education can hone it but it's the experience to realize that there are as many points of view as there are humans on this planet and in one way or another for that person it is the "right" one.

Every despot in the history of the world thought their perspective was the "right" one and all thought their feet were firmly on the ground.

Given the atmosphere of the current times, economics, educated or not isn't perceived in the best light anyway.

Good, I wanted to get that perfectly straight, exodus is calling me a liar. He has no proof except he would like to believe that I'm one, so therefore he believes he is right, his prospective is right and he has both feet on the ground.

Wrong, and very wrong. I do work for the world's largest financial institution and one of the few that is stable enough right now to be hiring. If you have access to the "Financial Times" you've heard of the company. They just finalized a joint venture with an extremely large Japanese institution.

You have now proven my point.

I don't think he's calling you a liar at all Brit. I think he's saying he has the same background and experience that you have. That's all. But he can speak for himself, and I'm sure he will.:)

So could someone explain to me
Voyager goes back to the Delta Quadrant? Slipstream?

And is it just me or without the old crew doesn't it seem like just another ship? How many original crew are present aboard? Why should I care to read the books, if I liked the show based on the situation and the crew?

I'm with you on this...I have always said that the shows, all of them, were never really about "THE ENTERPRISE" or "THE VOYAGER"...its the people who lived and breathed on them that I was always more interested in...

Agreed, and for me it's a disservice to the characters to 'force' them to stay together against logical character growth just to write novels or make a movie. Example of this done annoyingly: the end of Star Trek IV and Star Trek V. The story really has to be worth it. Example of this done well: Star Trek VI.

(Nice Batman av btw Rob. I love that particular show.)

Thanks Joy, I'm glad someone here can understand that smiley's mean humor. It's only proven that people assume personal insult without making the effort to learn the proper context.

So I shall break it down for Brit.

:p= teasing
:lol:= humorous

Which brings us back to the original point of JoeZhang's statement & taking the time to comprehend what people say before jumping to false conclusions.
