First watching "Game Of Thrones"

The series ending was fine; by the standards of any other series it would have been excellent.

No.

People were pissed off because the writers destroyed characters with writing decisions that needed lots of setup spanning multiple seasons but had nothing and that were absolutely contradictory to things that had been set up.

Even if Season 8 had gotten a full 10 episodes, the problems with it would still exist.

Not all of us were pissed off. Yes, it does seem like a Cliff Notes version of the story in places during the final season, but I also don't need to be spoon fed every plot and character detail. As someone who read the novels before watching the seasons, the entire show felt a little like what you are describing to me--but so do most filmed versions of novels. The final season didn't seem to be a whole lot different to me.

It would, but I think the shorter season only made things worse. Because instead of something gradual, we saw sharp turns due to the fact that we saw them cram everything in less episodes.

If nothing about Season 8 changed other than the episode count, the season would still have been an unmitigated disaster and absolute betrayal of the audience - as well as a gigantic middle finger to said audience - because no amount of additional setup time over the course of said season could ever justify the way David and Dan treated certain characters or the final trajectory of the story they were telling.

I am at episode 2 season 8. They've already given away the end of the war with the dead people. Someone said I want to say, Jaime, that all they have to do is get a valerian steel blade through the King of the dead to make them all disappear and I am willing to bet that this is what is going to happen. Just a hunch. I mean they can't possibly kill them all, knowing each dead soldier becomes one of them (they're kinda like the Borg). As to who's gonna be left to rule the seven kingdoms, at this point, it's anybody's guess. I really doubt that it will be Cersei though...

I am part of the audience and I was not betrayed or offended. You must be a sith because you only speak in absolutes.

I am taking a pause in my watching of the series. I think I've watched too much of it in too short a time. I'll wait until I start missing it or I really won't enjoy the last episodes. So don't be impatient.;)

I'm in the camp of I was fine with the ending besides it being rushed. Also there are more of us than people think. It's the people who complain every possible chance who make the perception so one sided.

Hope you enjoy your series watch. It really is a unique and amazing series even with its flaws.

I was overall okay with the ending but it was clearly rushed. For the most part the Starks had a happy ending considering what the family went through so I was happy about that. Also I wasn't surprised by Daenerys outcome when in every other episode she talked about burning cities when she didn't get her way.
