I like the fact that the outfit is a bright color. I wouldn't bet money that this is a duty uniform for officers, though; it could be half a dozen other things.

Interesting. Looks as though Starfleet has been taking fashion tips from T'Pol. The colour looked better on Jolene. But then, I would say that wouldn't I?

Wasn't Finnegan from 'Shore Leave' supposed to be wearing a cadet's uniform? Albeit it was never stated outright, that was the inference that he was an upperclassman that taunted Jimmy!!

Regarding the pic of the new uniforms. Not that impressed if they go with collar pips instead of cuff braids and it is a bit ummm, red.

I am withholding judgement until I see further evidence. I am also taking into account that this is another, different look at TREK so I am trying to be open minded.

EDIT: A thought crossed my mind - allegedly the script involves time travel. If you recall the future uniforms worn in various episodes of VOY and TNG they were somewhat similar. Maybe Quinto and Pine are wearing versions of that uniform because they had been brought forward by Nimoy-Spock, and are observing a holodeck representation of a graduation ceremony being used by Spock to make a point.

Looks okay, but the pic is a bit blurry. I think it probably is some sort of uniform, like the all-red jumpsuits seen in engineering all the time.

P.S. I'm just having a little fun...In the proper context, this could actually be a pretty nice bit of wardrobe. For instance, Christmas Cloud's drawing above is a similar color and quite nice indeed.

You know, this reminds me (again) of how I felt on seeing the first photo of the old gang in uniform for ST:TMP - or the first brief glimpse of the TWOK uniforms on "Entertainment Tonight."

I haven't been this excited by a Trek project since those two movies - though the run-up to ST:TNG came pretty close.

Give me a shot of Chris Pine et al in the original, proper, correct uniforms from TOS (or, rather, slightly better-made and more big-screen versions of the uniforms from TOS), and then I'll get excited

Unless the film is in a different continuity. Then I don't care so much (wait until its on telly...).

Of course, some reviewers had the same reaction to the TWOK uniforms - "why does everyone in the future dress like head waiters?"

Michael O'Hare said that his two brothers, both of whom were in the U.S. Armed Forces, teased him about the B5 uniforms in exactly the same way.

My first impression is they're trying to do some sort of link between the uniforms of the Enterprise series and TOS. I doubt this is what the actual Starfleet uniform is gonna look like in the new movie - I don't think they'd want to mess too much with the icons. Then again, we've yet to see what the Enterprise will look like...

I saw something VERY MUCH like this just a couple of days ago, on classic TOS Star Trek.

I was watching the remastered "Charlie X." Kirk was running around shirtless (probably because he gets his shirt ripped waaay too easily) but this is fairly remininscen of the "jogging suit" worn by "Sam" in "Charlie X."

So, my guess would we that we're looking at Starfleet Fitnesswear!
