First Spy Pics of Pine as Kirk + Orion Slave Girl?

Well now, there is no chance that the original uniform designs are being used in this movie.

None.

To what extent the costumes will nod in the direction of Theiss' originals remains to be seen. Certainly the cut of Pine's tunic in the spy shots is more like the TOS tops than anything that's been used since.

Yeah, I don't see why there's no chance of it either unless I'm missing something? We haven't seen nearly enough just blurry spy photographs taken at a great distance.

Looks like they're not going for some uber-detailed redesign, instead keeping with solid colors (slightly darkened) and better tailoring. I suspect any differences in the regular uniform will be similar.

Well, remember, there WERE three different colors of tunics in WNMHGB (I'm not sure about "The Cage" right now).

1) Command - Gold/Tan
2) Sciences - Blue-grey
3) Enginering and Ships Services - Salmon

For the series, they just "vivid-i-fied" the colors.

And for Dennis... you keep saying these "absolutely no chance" comments. And yet you're not on the production staff, are you? Have you read the scripts? Toured the costuming department? Talked with J.J. over dinner about it?

Do you have ANY reason to make such insinuatedly-conclusive, allegedly "indisputable" comments?

Or are you just doing what other folks in here also do (and which you, justifiably, tend to mock)... stating what you WANT to be the case as if it WILL be the case?

Seriously, if you have an "in" to this production... what is it?

Claims to have special knowledge of "the industry" really won't float... you're not really all that much of an "industry insider," and at most work sort of tangentially around the fringes, right? Not spending a lot of time in strategy meetings or boardrooms... or are you?

The color is simple to explain. All new cadets are forced to wear that color on away missions. Might as well weed out the weaklings early thru attrition...

Afterwards, they only have to wear red shirts.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing -- I'm just saying that red was not one of the colors, at least not that I recall.

I suspect by the end of the film we'll see uniforms that mimic those of the original series, with only slight variances in the tailoring to make the actors look more stereotypically buff. In fact, my guess is that to allow Abrams to have his cake and eat it, too -- to use different designs without being accused of violating "canon," which he claims to honor -- the time disruption will alter the past and the way it looks, with everything, including the uniforms and Enterprise, reverting to their familiar concepts at the end of the movie.

Says who?

Says me, lawyer boy. And Spock ain't gonna have a little spinning Spirograph display at his station to hypnotize the chicks with. Nanny-nanny-boo-boo.

Ask me what color underwear Uhura's wearing. Go ahead.

I might be totally out there, but that Orion girl's uniform almost looks like a blurry version of the TNG movie uniform. It looks black with those grey shoulders.

Sounded like you were speaking for others. Or responding to internal stimuli.

How much would we pay for a cell phone photo of that?

Just throwing this question out there.

The pic would be 2MP, but not that detailed because the cellphone camera lens (Motorola RIZR) doesn't focus well.

The shot would be of only one angle of the underwear.

I'm putting this out there, asking any websites, blogs, etc. what they'd be willing to pay for a shot RIGHT NOW of Uhura's underwear, and not have to wait two months.

Gentlemen, start your bidding.

^^ The photo you requested, submitted moments ago by the amazing JFX spy:

PS - this isn't me.
