First SFA Trailer

In a sense it horrifies me.

In another sense, it does not surprise me at all.

Trailer for new show drops. Normally at this time it’s good to break it down, frame by frame. Try to figure out what the show is gonna be like and so on.

Fandom fixates on one single frame of a list of names and spends thousands of words discussing who made what rank from all the old shows.

Never change, Star Trek fandom. Never change.

If we’re going to be damned, let’s be damned for who we truly are…

Let's double-down on the wall so that Richard gets plenty of rest!

We don't know what the wall is for, it could just be showing the rank/position they were when they were added.
Although if that turns out to be the case, one wonders what some of them are on the wall for exactly.

I'm kind of looking forward to finding out what the wall is actually listing so that we may be precise in our criticisms of any errors. ;)

1. That character is a hologram
2. This show is set in the 32nd Century, so she couldn't be his daughter either way unless there was time travel involved.
ok but the trailer does not point it out anywhere so its confusing. and why they are keeping with the hologram characters. i mean ever since that episode in ds9 when odo argued that being hologram does not mean you are not real and the people of that vilage knew they are holograms and still dident care. then the professor in voyager who is also here. its just a weird take all together.

It’s a complicated situation as I understand it.

I’m I right in thinking that (at least Brooks believes) that he hasn’t worked as an actor due to being placed on some kind of blacklist?

I mean, he may have been inactive as an actor not by choice.

Something like this could be a way back in, should he want such a thing.

Also, money talks.

I still don’t think he’d do it, but I can dream.
well what i've read is that hes diffucilt to work with (or at least was) and was arguing with the stuff alot. of course i cant say its a legitimate evidence to anything. there are things which are more personal and google will not always give the answer to. but if an actor stopped getting roles all together there must be a reason. his last role was in 2001.

Because it’s the future?
right, but it becomes complicated when you really dig into this logic. like how a character who is a hologram is self aware that he is a hologram. which yeah there was that argument in ds9 by odo (great episode, i liked it) that even being a hologram you are still sentient. but if she is a hologram then shes created by someone, and that someone clearly have no regards for her. and if she is a hologram. supposedly a "physical" hologram. that still a problem. no matter how sentient she is and how physical she is. she isnt real.

She's as real as Data and The Doctor are.

This show is set 800 years after Voyager, lots of things can change in that amount of time.

Holograms as people is not a new concept in Star Trek, with Voyager being the most prolific in examples of different characters, to some degree or another.

Sam is a Kasqian, who are a sentient photonic species, hardly a first for Star Trek ("The Lights of Zetar" and the aliens from "Bride of Chaotica", to name a few). She is the first member of her species to attend the Academy. Not a holographic computer program that gained sentience, a legitimate sentient being.

I had an interesting conversation in another thread which brought me peace with it - how many background graphics have we just simply ignored? If I can disregard nonsenical things like in jokes what makes this any different?

Of course eventually someone will find the font and then we can just make our own wall with tongo and Risians.
