I’m loving the Zapruder-film style analysis going on here.
Constant quirky dialogue and having to speak all the time at a fast pace. Like everyone on the bridge is being an annoying cunt like Data was in Generations.
Sounds more like The West Wing.
Since one of the pics clearly shows "Anaheim Convention Center", this confirms the location is not one that has previously been used for Starfleet Academy. In TNG, it was a set on the Paramount lot, in ST'09 it was Cal State Northridge, and I don't know where it was in STiD (but it wasn't Anaheim).

It was the Tillman water reclamation plant with its Japanese garden in Van Nuys in TNG and VOY. That was also used as Rubicon III in TNG. I've been there, it's still very recognizable.
Some people (like me) think they're inspired by a pre-release STO design that was also used in the Countdown comic
That uniform never made it into the final version of STO, though there is one that is similar.
Seems like it is a synonym.
For those who want proof, @zar posted examples of the differences between TOS, TNG, Kelvin, and Disco when it came to high stakes situations. Here's a link to the thread in question.

Cutting and pasting what my reactions were in that same thread (and feel free to dispute what I thought). As you'll see, as much as I like Discovery, I'm not too huge on the Abrams Films...
Kelvin --> Way, way, way too hyper. If I were 7 or 8, and had too much sugar, I'd be all over this. But I'm not.
TOS --> Had me on the edge of my seat no matter how many times I've seen it.
DSC --> Dynamic, well choreographed, paced just right, and hits the right dramatic beats.
TNG --> Another day at the office, including asking for suggestions, some shakiness, technobabble doesn't work, Picard shouts "all hands abandon ship!", then it's too late.
Wow. This sums up what I think of all four of those incarnations of Star Trek.

From the CBS upfronts. Looks like the Starfleet uniforms are straight out of Countdown/Star Trek Online.
Not much is even hinted at.
1a. Surprised they didn't use latter-era DS9 costumes and not VOY's. Yet the goild piped shirt is too vibrant to have been kept locked away in a closet for decades after x years' worth of filming with lights so bright the dye would fade... that and it's nice to see the angled motif.
1b. Background character - that shade of green is new, if that's a Starfleet (Medical?) officer and they've juggled division colors again.
2. He's wearing bland civilian clothing, did he just leave a funeral?
3. Generic foyer / hallway set
4. He's not going to be a senile old man who just went in his special keeps-you-dry undergarments that, oops, didn't? We were told this is not the same Picard as we'd seen before. Sorta like how we were told Spock would be different and different he was.
Maybe Picard is depressed with this shiny young generation that's got something (illogical) to say.
Or, rather and you didn't expect this possibility, Picard's future changes because Romulus blows up during Old Spock's time. Old Spock could easily be latter-24th century Spock. Picard has to deal with the 2009 movie's splodey aftermath while an alternate timeline plays out elsewhere. This allows continuity and canon to remain stable while having a whole new playground to create it.
The only question is: How will Picard himself be handled? Like a grumpy old man who thinks kids are all disrespectful? Or as an ambassador to Romulus? Or both?
I will say this - the show's title isn't entirely imaginative, but it's relevant. And, more importantly, the graphic/logo design is actually rather wonderful.
All excellent things IMO.
I greatly dislike how unprofessional the crew can be at times, it is like they're winging it Han Solo style far too often. That's my main beef with Discovery so far tbh. I prefer it more calm and controlled, they know what they're doing, I just couldn't imagine Picard being like that.

Agreed here as well. While I can appreciate the style of TNG, it all felt incredibly stiff and awkward at times.

The uniforms are two-piece. The civilian clothing is professional wear, not casual, but still looks different. And, overall, it gives a sense of another time: different from both Today's and Discovery's.
The banner looks like it reads Starfleet Headquarters... too bad everyone is facing away, would love to see the comm badge design.
